From 4 Failed Stores to 189 Products in 20 Days – Can My Ancient Egypt Niche Succeed?"

Hi everyone,

I’m a 27-year-old from Egypt, recently married about a month and a half ago. Alongside my main job, I’ve been looking for a way to build a passive income stream. That’s how I discovered Zazzle.

I’m extremely dedicated when I start something — in the past two months, I’ve actually created 4 different stores, each with over 80 products. But eventually, I deleted them because I realized their quality wasn’t strong enough to compete in the market.

Finally, I decided to focus on something I’m truly passionate about: our Egyptian civilization. I created a niche store fully dedicated to that theme, applying everything I’ve learned so far. If anyone is interested, I’d be honored if you could take a look and tell me what’s missing: https://www.zazzle.com/store/ancient_egyptian2

In the past 20 days, I’ve uploaded around 189 products, and I’m trying to learn as much as I can from the forum and the advice shared here. I’ve read most of your tips, and I really appreciate the helpful people in this community — thank you!

My question: Does Zazzle still generate good earnings these days? Is it realistic to aim for $500–$1000/month with my current level of work? I’m expecting my first child in 9 months, and I’d love to know if by then it’s possible to reach that goal.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

@mahmoud3  Zazzle is anything but passive. You have to promote your products to the right customers. It's not a "create, sit back and wait for the sales to flood in" sort of "passive income" place.

Create templated products targeted at your audience, design enticing mockups, and promote, promote and promote some more.

Anything is possible

Good luck!

Hi Sara,

Thanks so much for your kind reply and for encouraging me!

Right now, I’m only promoting on Pinterest by creating manual pins (all free, no paid ads, as I don’t have a budget for advertising at the moment).

Do you think free promotion can still bring good results if done consistently?

Also, if there are other methods you’d recommend for faster growth without spending on ads, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks again!

I think your chances of eventually earning $500-1,000 each month with your current niche are not good.

Will you be able to consistently earn $500-1,000 a month in 9 months (when the baby is born)? The chance of that happening is also very small.

Zazzle now takes 50% of designers’ already small profits, so your chance of making a good monthly income on Zazzle has just been cut in half.

Creating a POD-based business is a long, slow process. You will need to consistently and patiently work on growing your business in order to succeed.

The majority of Zazzle’s customers live in the United States. What percentage of US customers are looking for products based on ancient Egypt? I’d conduct some research to find the answer to that question, and then I’d pivot to a more popular niche.

Thanks so much for sharing this

Best of luck to you, and congratulations on the new baby.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

I am fascinated with Egyptian artifacts, art, and historical sights. You may want to focus on marketing your Egyptian store to the travel industry and to people who are interested in Egyptian history and culture. Look around on Pinterest at the people who promote anything to do with Egypt. You will find some wonderful images and material to get an idea of what is possible with promoting your store and products on Pinterest. I did some quick research online at travel statistics for Egypt in 2025. Here is what I found:  Travel to Egypt is experiencing a significant resurgence in 2025, with strong growth in tourist arrivals and a projected increase in revenue. While specific nationality data for 2025 is not yet available, historical trends suggest that Europeans, particularly Germans and Britons, along with Russians, are traditionally among the top visitors. Increased interest from American travelers is also being reported.
I think there is sufficient interest around the world in Egypt for you to continue creating quality items in your Zazzle store. I would suggest you pay particular attention to Pinterest pins that are the most visually appealing and make your pins like that. Create a lot of travel related items like luggage tags, posters, t-shirts, and accessories with your best images.
As others have stated, it does take time for your sales to increase on Zazzle and there is no guarantee that they will get to the level you desire in the timeframe you desire, but if you have the time to focus on good quality designs with an intended purpose, there is no reason why you can't be successful.
I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on the baby!

Thank you so much for your kind words, helpful advice, and encouragement! I truly appreciate it.
