I am a brand new creator and I’m having a lot of confusion while creating invitations and cards. For example, when I create a 5 x 7 flat holiday card, all of the other various sizes on the drop-down menu don’t fit properly. When I go back into the design tool to fix them at that point, the original 5 x 7 design doesn’t fit properly. Is there a way for me to fix this so that all various sizes fit correctly? Also do I have to repost every time I edit the designs?

The reason for your 5 x 7 design not fitting on the other sizes is that the system doesn't auto resize to the other sizes. That's just the way it is. You can't have one size fits all in the invitations and cards. You have to design each size individually and post for sale separately.
If you want to create on one of the other various sizes - select the size before you start then design as needed then when you post for sale - Product Merchandising - Change Options - and select 'this size only' to sell it on that size and no other.
That makes sure that the customer gets the size they want with your design exactly as it should be.
There's no option to edit designs once you've posted for sale. (unless you have the replace product feature but not all creators have that option)
If you want to edit your design after you've posted it for sale - you need to post for sale again and delete the previous version as Z doesn't like duplicates.
Personally - 5 x 7 is the most popular size. Design it to fit that size. If the customer wants a different size - they have the option to contact you directly to help them or use your template to resize it themselves
The choice is yours at the end of the day.

I agree. I just choose the size I want to sell and set it as the only option in the merchandizing options.

An easier way to do things is to separate your backgrounds from the main focus element, for example, upload the nutcracker background without the nutcracker character, then upload the nutcracker as another image. Your background should have enough of a margin to work with different sizes. Then, if someone wants to transfer the whole of the images to another product (providing you allow this), they can adjust the size to the new product themselves. Having to contact a designer just delays a sale.
