What happen if you upload a background on the Zazzle tool?

Hello! I know that besides background colors there are also image backgrounds that customers can use for their designs, I know that we creators can not use them since they are from other creators, I had noticed that when you click on the background it will open a window where you can see the title and description of the background art and also some information related to the creator or similar arts, I was wondering, how much royalty can you get each time a customer selects your background to use in their products or if they decide to buy it on digital? Do you think is a good move to add some backgrounds to the Zazzle tool? What's your experience? Please share here on the forum or through message, thanks in advance!

That is an old program that you had to be invited to be a part of.  As far as I know, there is no way to add your backgrounds there without being a member of the program and I have no idea if it is defunct or if they still accept new submissions or even new participants.

Thanks! And I suppose you receive your royalty each time a customer selects your background and use it in their own creations, right?!

Yes, but there is a different set pay out structure to the royalties so it is a very small amount. If you ever get a secondary content carveout on a product, you will notice it is just a couple of pennies from your royalty.

Those in the program had to sign an NDA on details of the program and those details were never widely released to the Zazzle community so you won't really get much information about it in the forums. I really think that it fell by the wayside since we have not heard any further information about it in several years and it was a fairly small group of people in the initial program.  You could perhaps contact Zazzle support for details.

On sales, I've seen report of customer adds in my "you made a sale" email and it looks like only a couple cents goes to the creator of background. The thing that rubs me is Zazzle's pays creators of those backgrounds from MY ROYALTY rather then adding their royalty to the total prices for the product. That got a flurry of complaint from designers when Zazzle first initiated the project which they turned a deaf ear to.

I'm new to zazzle and it's quiete much challenging using the platform. Question, are the backgrounds and icons free to use? I've noticed when I've removed them my sell button activates.

Right. They are free for personal use. They can't be used in anything you're going to post for sale, hence no sell-it button if one is used.
