Last viewed 2 years ago, not sold, and not hidden

Periodically, I order my products by "last viewed" and then go to the last page and move forward from there. I end up seeing quite a few products that have never sold and are marked in red that are obviously in need of work but that never show up as hidden or in need of optimizing. How is this even possible? Is the indexer hit and miss? Has anyone else discovered this same thing?

When they first introduced the optimization feature it applied to older product releases. Some (or all?, not sure) of the newer product releases going forward were not included in the 15 month timeframe.

The newer products are definitely included. I periodically get a batch of them being hidden. No, what I'm seeing appear to be utterly random products: mug, keychain, tote, postcard, tile, t-shirt, and more. The only items not included, as far as I know, are those that have sold at least once.

Deliberately working on one of these products, renewing its title, description, and tags, changes absolutely nothing, not even registering as being viewed.

Barbara, In the grand scheme of things it really makes no difference if those older un-viewed products are red but not in the "hidden" or "needs optimization" sort. Ultimately, if you want to refresh those products than that's a good thing they are there to do so. You just have to hunt for them by drilling down into your categories (if you have a ton of products) to find them without the search query for "hidden" or "needs optimizing". 😊

As for an explanation... who the heck knows. lol

I have been seeing the same things as you, products in red but never notified, only finding them when working thru products by cleaning up tags/keywords and descriptions. Been that way for years…And working on them, as you said, seems to change nothing as far as indexing is concerned.

It's nice being automatically warned when a product needs attention, but I guess we can't trust the system and have to check on the indexer's work. Bah + humbug.

A little off topic but I am loathed to delete products when they can be used as proof when tackling copyright theft.
