Moving products within a collection

I am trying to organize products within a collection. The first four products I moved to the top worked fine. The next few I tried to move kept jumping back to where they were.   This place is so frustrating - what's the trick?

Yes, definitely very frustrating! Try refreshing your screen, sometimes it refreshes to the way you moved them. I wish they would fix it, and I also wish they'd add arrows to move newly added products to the top, that would help a little too. Another helpful addition would be a visual indicator of which products have been hidden (either an icon or a gray overlay) in the collection management area.

Not sure if this is the issue you're having or not, but it's NOT a drag and drop system - you have to click when you get to the place where you want it to land. So when you to grab the item and start to move it, it sticks to your cursor. Then you can page up or down to get where you want and it's still stuck to the cursor until you click to make it land - so you can move more than one page at a time which is SUPER helpful with large collections. I actually think it's a great feature once you get the hang of it because before you could only move an item as far as the screen went and then you had to drop the item, move the scroll bar, pick it up again and move it a few more rows.

I dunno if my explanation made any sense or not - and I'm not even sure that's the problem you're having - but hopefully that helps!

Spot on. It sticks to your cursor until you click again to drop it. However ... this behavior varies with browser.  At least it did last time I checked into it. I have an old post somewhere I don't feel like searching for that describes the behavior in Firefox vs other browsers I tried. You have to play with it to figure out which way it works with your browser, and importantly, click to Save/Done every few moves so that when something does go wrong, you don't have to start from the beginning again.

Thanks for the reply @DesertSky  After refreshing my browser I found that the ones that had jumped back to their original position were now where I had moved them. Thanks @Cat, and @ColsCreations I have a better understanding of how to move products where I want them.  Now I can get some work done 🙂
