I want to preface this by saying; I am new to the Zazzle platform (and POD in general). However, I was able to hit the PRO seller rank in 6 months, and have years worth of experience on Pinterest doing social media marketing. To my knowledge group boards are extremely outdated/obsolete when it comes to promotion on Pinterest. They were created for a different purpose than what they eventually became known for (loads of spammy content).

Objectively speaking, your intent is to reach an audience of potential buyers on the platform. But, in all actuality the only people actively engaging with group boards are other sellers. Which means this practice is inevitably quite redundant.

It's important to remember that Pinterest is not a social media platform; it's actually a visual search engine. So people really aren't going there with the objective to engage with profiles and follow boards. Most people are searching and saving products in preparation for planning major events and milestones in their life.

With this in mind, it would be more advantageous for you to build up your own profile. You should not only link your products directly from Zazzle. But, you should also spend time creating unique Pinterest pins with the appropriate size ratio. Pinterest will always prioritize pins with the appropriate rectangular format over square images (use Canva for this because they already have appropriately formatted templates).

By creating these additional pins and linking them to your Zazzle store you're actually creating "backlinks" which helps to legitimize your content in the eyes of Google. If you're ever wondering why certain websites show up on the 1st page of Google "backlinks" play  a HUGE role.

Also remember that Pinterest as a platform is always changing, and it's important to stay up to date with the new features and tools. In this case, I would recommend you looking into Pinterest Idea pins to get a better understanding of the new direction Pinterest has been headed in over the last couple of years. This will likely give you ideas on how you can maximize this platform.

Ultimately, it's more important to take the time to establish your brand, rather than leaving the promotion of your store in the hands of others.

I hope this information was helpful!

All the best,

THANK YOU SO MUCH @rumlanedigital for taking the time to offer your Pinterest knowledge here. You've confirmed that I'm on the right path. Even though the Idea pins take more time than my manual pins, they always bring in higher impressions and pin clicks. Thanks for sharing the link too.
