Do you ever come across a product that hasn't been viewed in way past a year, hasn't sold, and the title is in red to indicate its status, but when you go to deal with it, you find it hasn't been hidden and is still public? I have a number of these puzzling products. Anyone else?

Did you search it when you are not signed in?

There are several like this, and they're all marked as "public," not "hidden," so I doubt searching for them while not signed in would find them missing, but I'll try it now... Nope, no problem. The product I searched for shows up immediately. Maybe I'm the only person who sets the listing to "Last Viewed," then goes to the last page of the listing. Once past the products that have sold at least once, the anomalies show up.
Though searching did happen to show a bit of weirdness, which is that the product's page showed up as if I'd come in through Pinterest, which brings you to a page where you have to click an extra button to see the product's details.

I remember something that I read a while back that said that if you have sold a product that has been altered by the customer it will stay public in order to allow them to re-order their version of the product. (Hope I remembered that right) I think it was in my question on me getting a notice about 'optimizing' some of my products back in august.

Any product that's been purchased even just once will never be hidden. The ones I'm referring to were never purchased, though now I'm wondering if what I'm seeing are products purchased and then cancelled. Could it be that cancelled products are also never hidden just in case the customer has a change of mind?

TOTALLY logical. Sometimes we are better off the just choose to NOT worry about things until it looks like it could harm you in the future.....as for me I would love to know if you have hit on the answer. I am a firm believer in the sentiment that there is no such thing of a silly question. Perhaps we should request an explanation from the person that set it up to do what it's doing?

They turn red as a warning before they actually get hidden, then you will also see the Hidden icon on them. At the bottom of my Last Viewed list are products I made Direct-Only for whatever reasons. I have one in red, last viewed 14 months, 4 days ago, not yet Hidden. Another one was last viewed 12 months, 7 days ago but not yet turned red. I don't know what the the time-frame is that triggers them to turn red as a warning before actually being hidden.
And tonight I just noticed I have three products that are NOT in red but have the Hidden icon even though Last Viewed date on all three is 8 months, 9 days ago. No products show when I select Optimization Needed filter so hmm, I must have accidentally hidden them myself. (None of the things I have purposely Hidden myself are in red so I guess the red is only used for things Zazzle has automatically made hidden / is about to.)

The several I'm seeing have never been purchased, not viewed in a couple years, and in red, though not hidden. Only two excuses for this: a glitch or they were sold and then cancelled. I should search for them in sold products, but that requires doggedness, which is in very low supply.
