So, on the page with all your products you can also see how many views a specific product has.
A pair of leggings I made when I started out about six months ago shows 20 views today. However, the insight page of the same pair of leggings shows only 2 views in the last 365 days.
What are the difference between these kind of views? If a view is a view they should show the same number?
Edited to add: I also have the reverse situation, 8 views according to the insight page but it only says 2 views when you check the product page. If we want to learn what really interest people we need to do one more click on every product instead of just sort and check the product page? I've searched on the Zazzle Help Center page for "Product Insight Page" without finding any info about it.

Insights, quick view, and product views all vary randomly, none of them line up, at least for my shops.

You have set up some other kind of analytics to confirm this I guess. Guess I will have to look into how that works if not any of the tools already here works.

Hi Maggie, I have not set up "any kind of analytics" to confirm, basically I just go to one of my products, click on quick view, then insights, then the product view number to compare. They rarely match. Sometimes the actual product view is zero even tho the product view panel says there are views. It's wonky.

I agree that the Product Insights are definitely wonky (I like to say broke @idraw 🙂 )
What is concerning if you have views in the last 365 days according to Product Insights, yet the Quick Stats or Last View Date shows no views for say 16 months then that to me says something is broke.
Products are hidden due to no views (low customer activity) but if it's pulling that data from Quick Stats or Last View Date - the products are getting hidden when they shouldn't be.
eg -
Quick stats says last view 2019 - product insights says last viewed June 2024 🤣😂

Hi Sara, you made a great point about last view date/hiddens and their relationship to product insights, quick view, etc.

Hi Creators,
Product Quick Stats and Product Insights have different definitions of views. The former de-dups views (e.g., if you pressed F5 in the browser on the product page many times) the latter does not. So for this reason, the Product Insights will almost always have higher counts.
Thank you.

Not sure I understand, you mention "Product Quick Stats" and "Creator Insights" and then says "Product Insights" will have higher counts. Still confused...
Which one would be most accurate if I am interested in actual customer views? The one with the blue circle or the other?

I agree. Jame's response seemed to be providing a valuable explanation of differing stats but the terminology got intertwined making it unclear. Had to look up 'de-dup' to see if that was a typo or actually a term for something, LOL.
Turns out "de-dupping' is an actual thing and basically means removing redundant data from analysis.
After looking at some of my own products, both old and new, I found that the Views stat you can see in the backend always matched exactly the number of views shown if you go to the product page and click on 'Quick Stats'. And notably, when you click Quick Stats, the panel that drops open is titled "Products Insights".
If you go to a product page and click the "View Insights" at top of page, the page that opens is also confusingly titled "Product insights". But this always shows less views then the backend/Quick Stats does.
So given this, I think what James was saying? is that backend/Quick Stats number counts every view, even if it's the same user repeatedly viewing the page. But the number you get from "View Insights" is 'de-dupped', meaning it's not counting repeat views from same IP in whatever unknown timeframe they've set. Therefore "View Insights" will almost always show less views.

So Therefore "view insights" would be most accurate if you wish to count different people viewing a product, right?

Sorry to be a pain, James, but it's still unclear. "Quick Stats" from the product page and "View Insights" from the product page are both sub-labeled "Product Insights" so when someone just says "Product Insights" it's a guess which one they mean.
In my case, the Backend view count and the Quick Stats view count always match each other, and are always higher than what's shown on the "View Insights" page. So it would seem like it is the "View Insights" that is 'de-dupping' and thus always lower. ?

I posted in the "Ask a question" section without anyone answering for a week. Then I thought it might actually be a technical glitch so I will ask here as well.
Is there a difference between the number of views seen for a product in the product page versus the number of views on the insight page? If so, please explain. If this is a bug, please confirm.

@James either which way - the views aren't getting counted correctly I believe. "View Insights" from the product page which then opens to "Product Insights" differs to the view count in the store back end- If it's de-dupping - it's de-dupping too much to the extent it doesn't transfer data over to the backend 'Last Viewed Date' stats which in turn affects 'this product needs optimization' notification and hiding thereof

Comparing to my above screenshots from July 3rd, that bag now shows 55 views in backend, in Quick Stats, and in the "this item is now trending" message on the product page. So sadly only 6 views in 9 days if that's reliable and some are probably mine. The number from "View Insights" is still at the same 36 Total Views though.
However, if I mouse-over the pinpoints for each month on the graph (the bag was created at end of March), the monthly views total 43. So even though it says "last updated yesterday" is appears that the current month's views (7) are not included in the "Total Views" shown in the circle. (43 - 7 = 36). I'll have to remember to look again in August to see if the "Total Views" in the circle increase to include the number of July views on the graph.
If we assume that all these stats are accurate, then from creation date through July 12 (backend show its was last viewed within 24hrs and Quick Stats shows it was last viewed July 12 which matches since it's now the 13th for me), this bag has been viewed a total of 55 times including my own views and repeat views from others, but the 'de-dupped' total view count through July 12 is only 43. That difference of 12 views is not significant to me but there are probably scenarios where the difference could be much greater and therefore significant to someone.
I don't think the 55 is accurate though. Between opening the product page to view the tags or checkout what's in the "other products you might like scroll" or snag an image or just grab the URL to copy & paste, I've probably viewed it at least 55 times just myself.
I probably should, but I don't pay much mind to views other then to occasionally sort All Products by Last Viewed Date for a general idea of what's been looked at recently and what hasn't. And this is mainly because I have no idea how the views are being tallied so can't extrapolate anything useful out of it. Likewise with the "View Insights" page. It's not telling me anything I can make any sense out of so have ignored it since first checking it out when it was new.
Anyways you make a very good point re which view count is triggering the hiding of products needing optimization for lack of views.

@ColsCreations My assumption is that the views aren't accurate 😂 and like you have noticed the view count doesn't add up correctly

UPDATE on this last day of the month:
Backend, Quick Stats, and Trending now show 67 views. The circle on the "View Insights" page still shows 36 Total Views. The graph however shows 18 views for July. So I expect that tomorrow, Aug 1, the circle # will change to 54 (36 + 18) and will remain at 54 until whatever views are recorded for Aug are added Sept 1.

Yep. That's exactly what happened. So when set to show "last 365 days" (which in this example covers the life of the product), the Total Views shown in the circle does not include the current months views.
