A customer ordered a transparent invitation with black lettering but when she downloads it the background is black, thus the letting is gone. how do we resolve this?

It's most likely the app she is viewing it in. When you leave an area transparent on a printed product the color of the actual product shows as there's no ink there. With digital images, there's of course nothing to show through except whatever "background color" the viewing app/program uses to show transparency. It's usually white, black, or a grid pattern but it could be user-defined or the color/pattern of your Home screen that you see "under" the transparency ... Black text on a "black" trans background can't be seen, likewise white text on a "white" trans back. It's a variable neither Zazzle nor Creators can control. She needs to try opening/viewing it in another app. And since customers are free to edit and re-download , she can always go into the Design Tool, add her preferred background color which will then become part of the image, and then download it again, ensuring that whatever app people open it in, it will have the background color she wants as it's no longer transparent.

That's a good question! I've had similar things happen when I downloaded the artwork on certain products (as opposed to downloading the mockup.) Do you know which format she downloaded it in? (jpg, png, or pdf) You might suggest that she try the other formats to see what happens. It seems like png ought to preserve the transparency - like for printing purposes - but I'm not sure how it would look when viewing it. Might depend on the app she used to view it... like was it somehow on a black background or something? I think jpg should fill it in with white... I can't remember where I read that, but it seems like I read somewhere that it's supposed to render it that way. Not sure what pdf does. Anyhow, if you get any more info, please report back because it would be good to know what to tell a customer in this situation!

This happens when I download my 'artwork' that has what appears to be a white background but actually has NO color 'white' set in the design tools. Ie the paper or card happens to be white! Hence when I download my artwork it is a PNG file with a transparent (black) background.
It could be resolved by customer downloading the JPG file?
Or you add a white background to all eligible items (time consuming)
Or Zazzle ensure all PNGs have a 'background' and that if NO color is set, the default color is white.

For anyone that's reading this post in the future, know that there's a very nice instructional here: https://community.zazzle.com/t5/instant-downloads/transparent-backgrounds-on-digital-downloads-somet...
In short, the easiest way for a customer to ensure that the downloaded product will contain a white background is to select the "Replace transparency with white" option in the Download pop-up.
