I ran across a design using a text template that achieves an outlined font. It looks like individual letters are grouped somehow, but I can't figure out the process behind it. Anyone have a how-to?

Text doesn't scale that nice and evenly.... Just making a bottom layer and sizing up would be wonky. They needed multiple layers, rather than 2 to get it all even... It looks like 4 would have been sufficient though.

The font used is BANGERS. I don’t know why she/he created 7 separate layers of text, but the top layer is filled with white, and the 6 other text layers are filled with black. Layers 2-7 use a font size that is slightly larger than layer 1, giving the appearance of an outline. Layers 2-7 are duplicates of layer 1, which is the template, so when a customer types in the name, all the layers change simultaneously. You can probably recreate this using only 2 layers of text.

The amount of layers depends on how thick you want the outline
In this design, for which I just made a direct-only link, so as not to mess with my ratio sales versus views (I'm crazy, I know 😄 it's just now in "zazzle adventure beginning" while I analyze everything in depth): https://www.zazzle.com/direct_only_business_logo_qr_on_vinyl_square_sticker-256044477744030332
i have 43 layers because i wanted a very thick outline for the text "business name", the intended effect required all these layers
@Jadendreamer13 how did you see that the person had 7 layers? I see a locked group

It wasn’t a locked group. I just moved the top layer and all the other layers showed themselves.

How strange, in the link @PopParrot posted I see the group locked and I can't move anything

That is strange. I looked at the linked product yesterday when I first read this thread and could view and manipulate all 7 of the text layers. Today they are in a locked group. Maybe the designer is in the forums and modified the design since yesterday to lock it up and the change went through that quickly.
I don't do a whole lot of text templates but I have used this trick numerous times. Never with more than one extra layer though. Usually just one additional duplicate text layer that I shift ever-so-slightly down and to the right to acheive a bit of a drop-shadow effect to make the text stand out from the background more.

ya. no problem, I was just curious to see if this designer does it exactly like I do, I think so because I would also do 7 layers for a thin outline.
If anyone wants to know how I do it, I can explain.
