Hey Creators,
We’ve just launched a new feature with pre-made assets in the Design Tool: Frames — and we’re excited for you to try them out!
You’ll find them under the Elements tab in the Design Tool.
What are Frames?
Frames let you place images into stylish, shaped containers that instantly elevate your designs- think masks, but simpler and better. They’re perfect for image templates, making it easier for you to create beautiful, easy-to-customize products for your customers.
We’ve crafted a wide range of Frame designs based on:
- Popular styles our community loves like film, scrapbook, paper, and more
- Moments and events like weddings, birthdays, holidays, and everyday memories
- We heard your feedback! Thank you to all who submitted your ideas of what you’d like in our design tool!
Frame Types
- Simple Frames – Classic shapes like circles, rectangles, ovals, etc.
- Decorated Frames – These are Simple Frames with an added decorated layer– like a border or artistic overlay.
- Multi-Frames – These are a group of 2 or more frames— perfect for collages and storytelling. They could also be decorated with a special layer
How to Use Frames
- Open the Design Tool and go to the Elements tab. Scroll down to the Frames section and click See All.
- Click on a pre-made Frame to add it into your design canvas.
- When the frame is added to your design, it will be “Empty”. Empty frames are represented with the green field placeholder image.
- To add an image to the frame, first select the Frame. With the Frame selected, click the “Add Image” button or drag an image on the Canvas to the Frame. Please note that dragging directly from the Uploads tab will not work.
- When you have your image in the Frame, you can then Adjust your image, crop and reposition it within the frame by double-clicking the frame or clicking “Adjust Image” button
- For multi-images, make sure that the sub-frame is selected FIRST before double-clicking or click “adjust image” to adjust
How to Create Image Templates:
- For single-frames
- Click on the Frame, Then toggle “Make this a template object” in the right-hand panel (just like you would with regular images)
- For multi-frames, make sure that the sub-frame is selected FIRST to see the option
Reminder: Add your own image before posting for sale
Before publishing a product that includes a Frame, be sure to add your own image on top of it. Products with empty frames cannot be published — you’ll need to add a sample image to post the design for sale.
💬 FAQs
Can Frames be used as templates in my design?
Yes! Set them as templates like you normally would.
Can I make my own custom Frames?
Not at the moment.
Are Frames the same as masks?
Frames are an upgraded version of the old mask tool — easier to use, and they provide a much smoother customization experience for customers. Whenever possible, we recommend using Frames instead of masks.
- Old masks / designs with masks are not affected
