A few years ago I designed some cocktail napkins on a black background. It's a relatively simple design with gold lettering. I have sold A LOT of them. The only problem is that most (not all) of them get returned. I know that nothing is misspelled, and the template works great. I've seen the actual printed product and the only problem I can see is that the printed black background doesn't look very good (nothing at all like the picture shows).
I know there are many many gold designs on black napkins in the store. My question is do those of you who design napkins on black backgrounds have this same issue with returns? Just curious!
I did make the same napkin using black and gold text on a white background (which looks much better when printed), but even though is is grouped with the black one it doesn't sell half as well. I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I can do to the black background to make it work?

Are you describing Cloth or Paper napkins?
I think that either could be helped be Zazzle's providing the base product in BLACK.

I have sold black and gold napkins successfully with no returns. However, instead of a solid black background, I used a black and grey pattern that mostly reads as black with gold lettering.
I’m wondering if the ink from an all-black background transfers to hands or mouths when they are used. The only way to know is to order samples for yourself and check them out for color fastness and general product and print quality.
