I am so excited about these I even watched the video which is my least-preferred way of learning.  LOVE that they are AOP and can do different designs on each of a set.

What I noticed right off the bat:

1) If they choose to order just one of a set, it has to be the left (labeled just "Front" in the Design Tool), there is no way to choose just the right one (labeled "Front2" in the Design Tool) instead.

2) The merchandising options are a bit confusing but main thing is, there are currently duplicate options showing..

Curtains.jpg

3) Thankfully, all the size options are the same width but there is a big difference in length. So you would think if you tile an image it would work for all lengths but that is not proving to be the case. If you start designing on the shortest default length (63"), tile your image, and then switch to a longer length in the Design Tool or on the product preview page, you get the warning that your image is too small.

Curtains2.jpg

That doesn't make sense to me because the native size of the image shouldn't be changing, it should just be tiling however many times needed to fit the longer canvas. But that's not happening, it's instead enlarging the image somehow and telling you it's now too small even though it's tiled and you didn't increase the size of it.

Unless this behavior is changed, if you don't want to lock it to "this size only", I recommend always creating your tiled design at the longest length (108") so that it works w/o warning on all the shorter lengths.

4) Even though the width is always 50",  in the previews it looks like it's getting skinnier and skinnier as you increase the length.

@ColsCreations Just been testing myself and if you set your tile size for the longer length (108") as you choose the shorter length - the tile size auto reduces

eg I started at 12.5" tile on longer length - changed to to the shortest length and it auto changed the tile size to 7.29"

Yes, absolutely. Image size is also changing as you scale down in length but at least that way (designing for the largest size) one doesn't get the error warning about the image being too small when you select a different size.

@James

If using tiling and you set the tile size, it increases each time you change the curtain length (tested on sheer curtain and blackout curtain)
eg
50" x 63" set the tile size 12.5"
50" x 84" auto increases tile size to 16.67"
50" x 96" auto increases tile size to 19.05"
50" x 108" auto increases tile size to 21.43"

Ideally - it should stay the same as the width is constant (50") and it's just the length that changes

Can this be changed please?

@ColsCreations I was typing as you posted 🙂

I was anxious to see if I could get curtains for my bedroom window (29" tall x 61" wide).

No one offers short curtains for these STANDARD sized windows. I had the same problem in my last house (although I think the window was a bit taller and narrower - can't remember off hand).

Will curtains have their own department? At the mo they just fall in 'Home Decor' @James

Any clue on the search term in Create Your Own? Tried curtain/curtains and nothing shows up so unable to transfer any designs as yet.

Thanks

FYI: Some people use curtains for their closets rather than doors because it's easier if your hands are full.

HOOORAY! I've been waiting for these for-ever! Hope you guys keep adding more house decor items. Still hoping the liquid soap dispenser/toothbrush holder set will come back.

These are great! I'm so happy to see that the home decor options are expanding! I love interior design, so I pay close attention to anything related to it. It seems to me there’s a scale issue. On the 108” curtain mock-up with the two windows and the door, the curtains look way too long. In the U.S., most homes have doors that are 6’8" in height, and newer homes with 9’ or 10’ ceilings now offer 8’ doors. The longest curtain length is 9’, and compared to the door, the curtains look like they are closer to 11’ or 12’. Just thought I'd mention it so someone can check into it. Thanks again for offering these, they'll be fun to make! Now if we could get all-over-print floor pillows and bean bag chairs...

I am playing around with the sheer curtains making vertical stripes in white or very light colors with no white background chosen. I am seeing light gray borders on lines and the rectangle shapes. I have noticed this on other people's designs as well. When I choose a white background I see a border that is a lighter color than the fill. For the rectangle shape I have the borders set to a width of zero. Image below shows light gray border that is appearing.

@ChromaMaven If you are using shapes to make your lines make sure that the border thickness size is set to 0 (currently set as 1 as default) and just to be sure set it as the same color as your fill color

if it's set at 1 (even with a white border color) a grey box appears

Thank you, Sara. I tried what you recommended plus I added a white background. The gray border no longer appears in the Zazzle mockups.

Anybody else having trouble with designs looking messy and out of whack. This is lined up perfectly on the design grid, but goes uphill and downhill on the images. Design in progress.

I just checked and it's the 50" x 108" only.

I'm having the same issue with 50" x 84", I turned the design 180 degrees, how I want it and it's displaying wrong on preview. 50 x 63 seems to look okay... I will try changing the display size after publish but you cannot pick a curtain size to buy either.

I check this place, when I feeling well enough, maybe about once every few months. Every single time I try to list something new it has bugs. Your post was in September it's October and they are going away for the year at some point here soon.

@ElizabethR I think it's intentional. Most curtains when draped look like this as the folds will alter the look of your pattern. So the insitu is just trying to look like real curtains

We really would like to know if others would or wouldn't post this for sale. We're afraid that the customers will think that it's an issue of sloppy design placement.

I would absolutely post it. I don't think it showcases misaligned vehicles. I think it showcases that the fabric is soft and flowing.

how do you get these to come up in search? Curtain, curtains, sheer curtain or blackout curtain do not produce curtains in search results

BKMuir
Valued Contributor II

@Harmony  Refine your search "curtains" in the Category dropdown to "Home Decor"

The new curtains come up immediately (nearly 6,000)

Harmony

i am referring to product transfer, not finding them in marketplace

They come up in search for me, but they don't in the templates when you want to transfer a design.  So I just make them from the "make from scratch" tab

i'd rather just transfer instead of doing everything over again.. oh well

Sara_H

@Harmony you can use transfer this design by using the department drill down instead of search.Start the Transfer this Design process from back end as usual, then scroll down (and select Home & Living department - then Home Decor - then at the very bottom select page 5 and part way down - curtains are there.

Choose whichever size you like and your design should transfer
