At this point why don't we just say we're only going to have sales on cards/cardstock and be done with it? Seriously, how do those of you that design cards justify it? I mean it seems like a LOT of work for pennies and with the changes to the royalty payouts it must be even worse. Z has to be making a BUNDLE on cards.........

I don’t sell cards, invitations, etc., so I’m just speculating, but I think they make a decent royalty on bulk sales, like wedding invitations.

Not now.
Oh, believe me.
Now - miserable $27-70. It was good until 2023. From the end of 2022, the "fun" began. I remember in December 2022 for just a day$23. Really?... After April 1... I don't even want to go to the site.
What's going on?... I believe, I guess...

@ElleDesign I increased my royalties so I'm not losing too much since the April changes. I really think you can benefit from increasing your royalties, at least on weddings; your designs are GORGEOUS, and I always get a case of "inferiority complex" when I see them! They still seem to be placing well in the marketplace, so all is not lost for you. I sure hope your sales pick up again!

Thanks for your kind words and for the tip, I already started raising it some time ago. Don't be too hard on yourself, you have good items. I am not keeping track of the market place, but each month income keeps going down and it definitely demotivates. But thanks for the support.

@ElleDesign Hmm. I started in November 23. So I have never seen the „good old days“. I like the platform but it’s certainly a hobby for me, not a way to pay the rent. And that’s a bummer. I will decide in December if I will add an other year of Zazzle venture to my daily routine or not.

As others have said, not so much now. between the cuts and those that buy one party invite, or one wedding invitation for a few pennies. It is no where near what it was.

I raised my royalties to compensate at least somewhat for the April fee changes. It hasn't seem to hurt my sales, at least in the paper products. For home decor and stuff like that, I've had to keep them lower, especially on big ticket items.

I've sold three items this month so far: Post Its, a baby bodysuit, and a mousepad. I've earned $1.65. My royalties were 14%, 10%, and 18% to keep things at a price that didn't feel ridiculous. I'm thinking I may need to recalibrate or withdraw. Not sure which yet.

@Amanda23 I haven’t sold anything yet this month so you are still ahead of the curve compare to me. 😉

For what it’s worth, I do sell a lot of cards and invitations, but I also sell a little bit of everything: area rugs, home decor, accessories, even niche seasonal items. Zazzle isn’t just a card store, at least not for me.
I used to design purely based on what I loved. These days, I spend more time researching trends and figuring out what people are actually searching for. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s helped me reach a wider audience. Sometimes it’s not that your work isn’t good it’s that the right customer hasn’t seen it yet.
maybe try experimenting with different tags, adding keywords to your product descriptions, or even a different category. You never know the algorithm may pick up on your product. Your artwork might be exactly what someone’s looking for they just haven’t found it yet. Just the other day I sold an invitation that I created 9 years ago!
