Hi, I started to place a design on one of these postcards(to test which designs would work best), selecting rose gold foil first, and there is no sign of foil at all in the previews. hmm. here's the designing page of this.

Select the front foil page for it to work, not the regular front page.

Thanks, Scott! I'm very happy that we now have this option, and in plenty of time for the coming holiday season.

A few observations:

1) In the design tool, I think it would make more sense if the "Front foil" layer appeared at the top as it does in the flat foil holiday card design tool, rather than at the bottom - this would better distinguish it from the non-foil "Front" layer.

2) I would love to see video in situ views to showcase the foil effect.

3) I think the in situ view should appear at the top of the preview thumbnails-it almost looks like an afterthought at the bottom.

4) I think the actual display area in the in situ/flat lay image is too limited/small, doesn't properly showcase the product and doesn't allow the design to pop. I feel like my design looks a bit lost and overpowered. Thanks.

Hi Scott! Is there a tutorial on creating foil cards? I have tried in the past and did not understand. Thanks AND great job on this new platform!

Hi Scott, I just created a card, but I am not able to put the card for sale, I have only the button 'edit design' or 'add to cart', but not 'sell it' button.

Could someone help me out?

Thanks,

Caroline

I finished my first card, but I get a strange pop up, that tells that the glitter is simulated…?

You must get rid of your "glitter" tag. Technically, no real glitter is used on the cards, regardless of the gold foil text. That's why you get that message.

@CarolineBM this is your answer.

Two details:

1. The design areas are exactly the same (including the bleeds) as the regular postcards - this lets you copy and paste your postcard designs into the new card without any adaptation but for moving your front text to the foil design area. Well done in that regard, Z.

2. To publish them as regular non-holiday foil postcards, you need to add the word Postcard in your title. By doing so, it limits the department's choice to "Invitations & Stationery > Postcards" like for the regular ones. Unfortunately, this means we will lose quite a few characters for our titles. @Z: is a regular variant of both post and flat cards on its way?

Previews:

I like how the foil texts look on the previews, for all the 3 foil types. The slightly embossed effect is well done.

Attribution:

Please round down the attribution surcharge from 7 cents to 5 cents - it would look better for a customer's eye and it would allow us designers who choose to check the box to get rounded prices. And, again, it's NOT an independent designer's credit, it's a Zazzle credit or Zazzle QR code - designers may have their own branding, and you risk to provoke misunderstandings.

Great add, overall. And thank you for having no minimum order quantity.

Hey everyone, the team just posted a nice reference guide on foil invitations and cards. https://www.zazzle.com/ideas/occasions/everything-to-know-about-foil-invitations-cards

The article shows all card shape sizes however I'm only seeing normal and rounded corner shapes as an option for the 5x7 shape only... ?

Do people actually send out Christmas postcards? I'm definitely jumping on the foil bandwagon this holiday season!

Through last few weeks I've ordered  sample of my foil designs. I have come across some bumps and issues. Among my orders there were 3 vertical design foil post cards -  all came in with tops and bottoms cropped off as if it was masked for horizontal layout. My initial order was two  vertical designs, I called customer service -  got exact same issue on a reprint, called again and finally on the third attempt got it printed right. So I ordered my third vertical design - and we are back to square one, top and bottom no foil printing. Just got the reprint in the mail. And still the same issue. This makes me wonder if I should even have vertical designs for foil post cards.

That being said, horizontals are printing great and 5x7s printed great on horizontal and verticalZaz1.jpgzaz2.jpgzazs copy.jpgzaz11.jpg

@Scott

wanted to see if you are aware of this issue; we don't want to design for vertical postcards if this is the norm

I'm hearing this issue has already been resolved.

Im waiting on the last reprint in the mail to see

you've been so patient but imagine a customer dealing with this!

Especially with deadlines during holiday season

@Zazzle: How about adding a preview with a printed reference card for each foil color, so customers can accurately understand the look?

Actually, the previews often aren't able to give an authentic look of the foil part. I think a simple, printed reference card would be a great help - I've seen some customers' review photos and the cards look great on these pics. One for each color, or just one with 3 cards with the different foils. Dark and light backgrounds. P.S. I know, customers can check the reviews. Just an idea.

This is great, are we going to see more items added? I have already had requests from my gold foil invitations for matching menus and welcome signage but as it is not yet available had to tell them I can't do those in gold foil 😪 I do hope this gold foil is rolled out on more items soon. Thanks ❤️

Agree. Would love to see them also on folded greeting cards and on US letter-sized paper sheets. And business cards and Menu cards, too, of course. I can't understand why there isn't a regular flat card variant available yet, the same product, just called differently. I'm using the Holiday ones for creating Birthday and sympathy cards - it works, but it's highly annoying that you lose so many characters in your title and that that "Holiday" term is present everywhere.

Yes and when transferring from my other invitation designs the gold foil doesn't go to the gold foil plate... that could be improved hopefully in time. But it is a great start 😃

The silver and rose gold options don't show up properly and have not since the foil cards were originally launched

Silver especially looks bad. Almost makes me not want to use it but I keep hoping it will get fixed 😬

I just ordered about 8 different foil samples and two were bad. One had shifted about 1/8" so you could see black under the gold foil (even though there was none in the design). That same card had another issue in that the smallest text (9 pt) inexplicably enlarged to twice the size! The second sample was just badly trimmed. I'm hoping these issues get worked out before holiday season!

How can i insert a saying in foil on a normal product image?

Open the layers on the card. Insert your saying text on the front foil layer and it will appear in foil.

Insert your normal product image on the front layer that is underneath the front foil layer. It will print normally. The foil layer will show over top of this layer.
