Google Analytics 4 Property instead of UA

Will there be a slot to enter a Google Analytics 4 Property instead of an UA - Universal Analytics?  On July 1, 2023, they will discontinue the UA.  Also, I think we can get extra analytics with the 4 property now.  I looked up a lot of stuff and they said you can't just replace the UA with the 4 tag, you have to enter in code to the website. Thanks!

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. I'd like to be prepared ahead of time so any information would be greatly appreciated.

WBartworks pointed out in April in her post, the change is in 2023. Procrastinators can relax.

I took the plunge and pressed that button and all you have to do is enter the new G - number (that the GA4 property creates  ) and then replace the old UA number ( under the 'Google Analytics Tracking ID (UA-XXXXXXX-X' box) - store settings - advanced settings - tracking & analytics then press submit to save.

It's that easy and I can confirm it works  @mblue

If you have trouble finding your new GA4 code it's called MEASUREMENT ID and is found clicking in your Google Analytics page under the cog (bottom left hand side) - Data Streams then click on the property and copy the MEASUREMENT ID (not the STREAM ID) and paste that in your store advanced settings.

I tried that and it didn't work for me.  I'll try it again and see.

don't forget to submit to save on your advanced settings page once you have put your GA4 measurement id in the UA box. It'll be a few hours before data starts to come through so don't expect immediate results in your Google Analytics reports. @mblue

@Sara_H Thank you so much! I had been trying to figure out how to do this. It's very confusing with all the different numbers and IDs

Yes I have a question for you how did you add GA4 by 5-05-2022 when they didn't change over from UA till July of 2023 .I was curious not saying It couldn't be did but the dates don't add up.

@Steve-Garner it was running in tandem with the old analytics - I had two properties and GA4 prompted me to upgrade back in 22. July 23 was when the old analytics would be shut off and no longer supported and any data that hadn't been transferred to a new GA4 property would be lost so to speak

Okay Thanks I'll try that haven't yet input the Data in Settings but understand how and Thank you again for the reply.

When I recently created a Google Analytics for my POD postcards blog, I was given the opportunity to assign both the UA number and the 'Google Analytics Tracking ID . I find the UA section to be much more helpful than the 'Google Analytics Tracking ID   function--that one seems to give me a lot more information. However I feel I need a course in both as I find both entirely baffling given that Google Analytics does not seem to contemplate the specific case a lot of us are working with (a Zazzle store or a blog).

I also do Postcrossing!

How do you enter the code on the website. Wouldn't someone on the Zazzle side have to do that?

@deznr07 we can't input any code into the website but we can add the GA measurement ID number into the advanced settings of your store scroll down to see under Tracking and Analytics -

and the GA will track visits to your store
