I recently noticed I never got my 1099, wrote support and they are trying to tell me that paypal is going to send me my 1099 which makes no sense at all. I wrote back and told them that and that others have gotten their paperwork. I can't fill out my taxes until I have it and it's Mid March.
Add to that, I didn't get my pay this month - I have over $50 so it should transfer to Paypal - anyone else having issues with either tax 1099's or getting paid?

I have not gotten my 1099 for 2022 either (as a Canadian working and living in Canada, unfortunately, I am used to not getting it before March 15). I did request that a PDF be emailed to me (from Zazzle) a few years ago, but have never gotten it sent to me this way.
I just add up all my PayPal earnings for 2022 if I don't get my 1099 by the end of March, and include a screengrab of the PayPal payments with my taxes.
No problems getting paid, though.

Thanks, I'll do that if I have to, but last year when I did that it wasn't the same amount that was on my 1099. My 1099 was higher. I didn't question it, just went with it. I did request an ecopy which is when they told me they don't issue 1099s for people paid through paypal. smh. 🙂 have a wonderful evening.

paypal is saying I do not have any tax documents. Zazzle is the company that pays me. They need to send me the 1099. This is the first time I've had this issue.

International designers don't get a 1099, they get a 1042-s which I did not get yet either. I stopped waiting for the form a few years ago because it always came very late, I just add up my zazzle earnings for the year and report it on the tax return

Hi, do you mean that we can ask for a tax return even without the 1042-s?
Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by "can we ask for a return". You can file your taxes without the 1042-s, if you live in a country where tax was withheld I suppose you can use the 1042-s to show tax was deducted if you are making a claim to get it back. I'm in Canada, the 1042-s is a US tax form and is not needed to file a tax return. I use to include it with my tax return as proof but they come too late so for the past couple of years I just put how much I made for that tax year and attach a note listing where the money came from and for what it was. I also state on the attached note that the amount shown on the return has been converted to CAD at the yearly exchange rate because the revenue agency wants it reported Canadian currency.
I re-read your post and I think I know what you mean now. Your asking if you can get the money withheld back without the 1042-s, right? I don't know you would have to ask your your country's tax agency.

Thanks, I'll check tomorrow if it is necessary. The other US companies already sent me the 1042-S form, Zazzle is the only one not sending it

my 1099 was definitely mailed from zazzle, not PayPal.
jusr saw your latest reply….you said they told you that they don’t issue 1099s for those who are paid thru PayPal. I got my 1099 mailed from z, and I am paid thru PayPal. Someone definitely gave you wrong info.

Thanks, I figured, logically, it had to be. Zazzle support is great to customers - but not doing so well when I ask a creator question. 😞

When I did not receive a 1099 from Zazzle, they looked into it and told me if PayPal sent my 1099, Zazzle would not be sending me one. They instructed me to use the 1099 from PayPal.

Ditto to what others have said about using PayPal but getting their 1099 sent by Zazzle. You were being misinformed by someone who likely was informed but didn't understand what they were told. The new thing with PayPal sending 1099's was, as far as I know (which isn't very far) new this year. Maybe they're reporting anything over $600 to the IRS, but not sending it to their users. Otherwise, I would have either received something or been notified by them.

It appears, then, that it's all in a jumble. I wonder how many people received two 1099's, one from Zazzle and one from PayPal. Having made well over $600, I should have by all rights received my 1099 from PayPal, but there wasn't a peep out of them.

My understanding from Padraig who helped me with my 1099 issue is that you either get a 1099 from Zazzle or a 1099 from PayPal. You should not be receiving a 1099 from both PayPal AND Zazzle. So whichever one you get is the one you use.

That’s definitely a change from the past way of doing this. Zazzle should have informed their constituents of the change of that change not waiting for things to sort themselves out. That’s no way of doing business!

It isn't Zazzle's policy. It is the IRS new regulations. Your tax preparer should be the one to explain this.

It’s not a policy issue, it’s a procedural issue which is Zazzle’s responsibility to communicate in advance!

?? IRS regulation that employers no longer need to supply 1099s? Zazzle is the one who pays us - not paypal. Paypal is just like a bank. A bank doesn't send us a 1099 for money we deposit, only for the interest they pay us on the account. Paypal doesn't give us any interest.
that being said, I REALLY WISH Zazzle would give us the option to deposit to our bank account and not Paypal. I've had issues with using paypal in the past.

Paypal set me a text that I could download my 1099k. They don't mail it. Previously the national trigger was $20,000 and 200 transactions. However some states required anything over $600. My state was one of those, so it is not a change for me. Now it is $600 nationwide.

I get paid via PayPal and received my 1099 from Zazzle. That said I did notice there was a spot in my PayPal account for tax forms. I didn't have any there, but it might be worth checking. My guess is that PayPal might not mail out the forms. Some of the places I earn money from do this as well. If I want a paper copy I have to go to my account and print it out myself. Anyway, it might be worth checking your PayPal account just in case.

Correction: as a non-US citizen, it is my 1042-S slip that I am still waiting for, not the 1099 form.

I am on Zazzle a couple of years now, and I never received 1099 as well... I really need my 1099, at least for this year. Zazzle is taking 30% of my royalties, and I can't get a tax refund without it
