The trouble with deleting discontinued products

I just spotted that metal signs have come back after several years, and our old sign designs will be transferred to them. Trusting the signs were dead little duckies, I deleted all of them. What a shame. I suspect I'm not the only one in this camp.

@Barbara

I too went through and deleted mine ages ago. #CampDeleted

Often, I look at new products with suspicion after having been burned in the past by them, but do I learn? Nope. I'm going for the pet bandanas even though I don't trust them.

@Barbara  It's a gamble with all new releases but we all dive in with the hope they'll be the best thing ever.

I don’t jump on new products. I take a wait-and-see approach. If I see evidence that they are popular products that are selling well, then I’ll take the leap.

But how can you know if they're selling well if you don't have any to sell? My own method is to wait many months to see if it goes out of stock. By then, of course, I've missed the boat because everyone else has jumped on board while I'm still tagging along far in the background.

Got burned by this a few times... now I just let discontinued items sit in my store's backend... I guess this time it paid off, though I only had a few. Now if passport covers would make a comeback.

I can identify completely with you. Hope someday we sell more passport covers,🤞

I've completely obliterated all face masks, though now and then I spot another one. Granted, they weren't discontinued, but I wished it to be so. If they ever make a big comeback, I'll be a loser.

I never bothered to delete them, even though it seemed like they'd probably never sell again.. then just after I advised someone to not bother making new ones, I sold one (it was only a few months ago too...). I think it was likely a bit of a fluke though. I probably ought to clean them out.

Most often, I design only for standard items, things that most people have, want to have, or that require constant renewal like mugs, posters, business cards, and greeting cards. Every once in a while, a product will inspire me, like the car flag that I've sold over and over again. That one's a fluke. May we all be blessed with flukes.

I'm always tempted to delete the discontinued products, but then I hope they'll come back, so I leave them. That approach worked out well for me when they got the air fresheners back. I wish they would get the passport covers back.
