'Views' information has changed on product window

It seems that the 'views' info is no longer displayed on the product pages. It looks like it has been replaced with 'This item is Popular!' But this message only appears if the product has received a significant number of views in the last 30 days!

I'm ok with this. It looked really weird when it said "this item is trending" with 12 views or whatever low number.

KeeganCreations

Yes, that's true! I wonder what the threshold is for 'views in the past 30 days', before you get the 'This item is popular!'

I looked on the first couple pages of "Christmas invitations" and "Christmas cards", keeping it general on purpose, and the lowest I found was 500 views in the last 30 days. And there seems to be no particular order - some with less views were listed ahead of ones with thousands of views and ones that didn't list any views were mixed in also.

Thank you 😊, I haven't seen anything lower than that either!

I agree. The permanent trending badge did not provide any value to the customer. For a bit I saw they were displaying how many orders were placed but for some reason they are not displaying that alert. (Bummer)

I think that Zazzle can learn a lot from the Etsy and Amazon marketplace. Amazon wouldn't be adding all the interesting tidbits about their sales if they didn't encourage people to shop.

I agree, I'm more prone to buy something on Amazon even if it has 2 reviews over zero.  I think they should find a balance... because I don't think having zero data showing is going to be a positive.  Even popular seasonal items are going to show zero data in the early portion of the season with this new style.

Z is doing a lot of testing of views of our product pages right now. Not everyone may see this because we are all being tested different views. I do not have this view of my current most popular products.

Oh that's interesting, I did wonder if it was just a seasonal thing!

I think you're right, @LMGildersleeve
I see this message: "Best Deal Guaranteed. This is the highest discount available on site on this product until after December 31, 2024"
No mention of views.

this message is on tote bags, pillows, wrapping rolls, business cards, so far, it is only one day discount

No ... I'm not getting any messages at all.

I have a popular Christmas card that just sold again right now - but all the views are gone and there is nothing that says "This item is popular".  This is a card I designed in 2020. This is the first time it has sold in the last 30 days though (or probably this year).

I have another Christmas card that has only just become popular. It has been getting several orders lately. That one does say "This item is popular! 1.9 k people viewed this in the last 30 days".  But the first card I mentioned has had far more views and sales overall, just not in the past 30 days.

I really, really hope that this particular change isn't permanent. We already don't have many tools for doing niche research in zazzle, and the approximate number of lifetime views for the products in a niche is very important to me. It's fine to raise the number of views before a product is trending, because calling 12 views "trending" is ridiculous. But without that number, there's not much indication of whether a niche is actually moving products.

I don't care at all about viral products (500+ products in 30 days) because that's nearly impossible for me to replicate.

I think the "Best Deal" text is a good thing, but I'd also like products with a 'high overall view count' to be shown. It is a helpful tool to see what's trending. I hasten to add, that the screenshot examples I originally provided belong to other designers! 😢

This is exactly why I wish Zazzle would stop showing any of our data on the product page. It isn't  just customers rifling through our products, but competitors. I would love if they hid our keywords too.

@Anne: Mine is the same as yours--no matter the number of sales or views. I have the "Best Deal" message, which is actually fine by me. I thought the "trending" message was silly, given that it took very little to put a product in that category. I can't imagine a lot of buying is done according to what a store claims is trending, or even popular, for that matter. A "Best Deal," on the other hand might perk up an ear or two. Or maybe not. Who knows what inspires a purchase?

@Barbara

Just checked, I have the "Best Deal" message too. Not a fan.

Just noticed this too.  Definitely bummed about them not showing this anymore.  A lot of items can be popular but not meet a huge threshold. Seasonal items will also be really hit prior to that season kicking in.  I mean I just looked at an item that has over 7K views, and even it has nothing under the personalize button.  I also agree that an item should not have 'trending' after 10 views.  But even items with 50 views can start being decent sellers.  I feel like this is probably going to negatively affect the little guys trying to find their way on Zazzle.

I think the 'best deal' text depends on what you are looking at.  For example it is on tote bags, but not invitations right now.  Probably depends on what is on sale.  To me, this feature should not change the 'views' feature. I find those two things completely unrelated.

I've a feeling that much of this depends on caring what others think. Age of the customer is likely closely related, young people probably more often swayed by trends, older people having lost a certain amount of interest. Thus, how popular something is and what's a good deal would appeal to different customers. I'm still not firmly in any camp about what that little message says. Then again, I long ago turned into a skeptic about what any company says about its products. Specs and reviews do, however, have high impact.

Not only is the “trending” info missing in my marketplace view, but the editor’s pick, special pick, and “new” flags are missing, too. However, all this information is still visible if I view the marketplace on the Zazzle app — which I don’t typically use.

I also cannot see them in the marketplace search! However, I can still see the symbols when I look at 'Products' within a store and inside a collection. But not on their product page.

The more I think about all this, the less I see a point in it. If someone is looking for a poster or invitations or whatever, will that person buy the same design that's apparently being purchased by x-number of people or that's been viewed a lot? They will more likely buy what appeals to them. Period.
