I was just trying to transfer some of my old award ribbon designs that were good sellers to the spools of 3" grosgrain ribbon. My idea was to rotate the text and tile it, thinking they could cut them to make several diy ribbone awards; but I can't get the text to tile in a way where they line up correctly to make that possible.

So the question part is what are the chances of Z finding another maker for a similar product or maybe Zazzle becoming the maker?  This would be the best idea because then I could just transfer all my designs to the new product.

The suggestion part is for the design tool tech team.  Could we get an easy way to tile text when we have enabled it to the be read from top to bottom instead of left to right?   I was able to tile it but I when I rotated the text template on the new ribbon I could not get the spacing of the text right to make it usable.

I hope this makes sense...  and thanks in advance!

I don't entirely understand the problem you're seeing, but I've been having all sorts of issues with tiled text designs recently. I have designs that have worked beautifully for years and now suddenly are all messed up - especially if someone enters the design tool or even clicks on the "personalize this template" link.

Here's an example: https://www.zazzle.com/best_man_repeating_white_text_on_red_neck_tie-151681240695180644

It looks fine on the surface, but if you just click on the personalize link, even without changing the text, it all falls apart. Not sure what's going on or if this is the same problem you're seeing.

@Cat Wow, that is bad.  I clicked in and all I did was enter the design tool and all of a sudden the spacing was way too close together so that your diamond was crunched in the middle.

Is that an ALT character?  because I read another thread in tech where this was happening to another designer (creator- I will never get used to calling us that)  LOL

ETA: it is not exactly the same issue I am having and mine is not technically a tech issue. It was just an experiment I was hoping would work as a substitute for the award ribbons that have been discontinued since they were really good sellers for me.   I thought before I delete them I would try tranferring the designs but it didn't work.

Hmmm... maybe the diamond is the issue. I guess it's an ALT character - I'm not sure of the exact definition there - it's basically a text character that doesn't have a spot on the keyboard! I had been thinking that the problem had to do with the changes they made to text fields a year or two ago - where they used to be expandable and now they're fixed width. But maybe it's the diamond and not that after all! Who knows!

Well anyway, sounds like it's not the same issue you're having. I hope you find some way to salvage your award ribbon designs. It's such a bummer when a good seller gets discontinued!

@Cat yeah, an ALT character is  when you have to hold the ALT key while adding some number combination to get the charater you want...

example  Hold ALT while you key in 0169 and you get a copyright symbol  ©

Thanks! I hope they find a new maker or consider being the new maker!
