Question About Affiliate Disclosure on Pinterest

It is by law that we include a disclosure when promoting a product that we get compensation from it, and I did that by putting a line of text that says I'm an affiliate in the description of all my pins, but today I checked and not a single one of them has the disclosure in it. It seems like Pinterest automatically hides it when I post the pin. I still can see it in the description when I went to edit the pin. I understand that Pinterest only shows a certain number of characters in their description but this is not the case. Does this happen to anyone else?

Do you have a link to the law? I would like to see the actual wording of this law.

I only read the rule for social media influencers, so I thought it would apply to us as well.

Thanks. From this particular document, I get the impression that the target of the FCC guidance is not us, so I would not worry about it.

Thank! It's good that I don't have to go through 1500 pins to fix them 😄

1500? No way. I would not bother. By the way, I find that Zazzle often makes changes which send people redoing hundreds of their listings. I don't participate in any of that.

I don't think we have to put it on our own products, do we? I mean, affiliates usually sell other people's products, not their own. It's just regular advertising if we are promoting our own products, not affiliate marketing.

If I were to promote another designer's product from Zazzle on social media, wouldn't that consider selling other people's products?

Yes, but I don't do that. I just promote my own products.

When you share from someone else's site, the information provided by the site is the stuff they use. You can get around it by downloading the promo pictures from Zazzle and uploading it to make your own pin. This also gives you much more control in how it's titled, tagged, and all the rest (you can pick trending tags for each pin, so it'll be seen by interested people).

Though the law does say you need to disclose it, you don't have to be wordy. I just start my description with (Affiliate Link) which is enough to cover it. A lot of people don't understand or follow the laws, but I don't like the play with stuff like that.

I am still hoping to read the actual verbiage of the law. Do you have a link?

This is exactly the mindset I have and the confirmation I was looking for. Thank you!
