Calling all Bloggers!

If you have a blog or a website to promote your Zazzle Designs and those of other Creators, please share them here. I am happy to trade reciprocal live links if anyone wishes to do so, simply reply to that effect.

EDIT: I have added my current blogs and website links with images should anyone wish to add me to their 'Directory'. If you want me to add you to my Directory page, add an image or logo to accompany your website link.

Also let us use this space to share tips and ideas for promoting our Zazzle products and affiliating for Zazzle via Blogging.

I have a blog where I display my own products: https://www.psychedeliczen.com/artshop-gifts/

Not sure what you mean by trade live links. Do you mean post the link to your blog on my site and vice versa? Or promoting on social media?

Yes, this usually works by adding a 'directory' style page to your blog, then you can add the links there. Some prefer to just add a title, others add a title and a logo or banner, hence why I added some images to accompany my links.

Edit: Just checked out your blog, it is beautiful! I love the colors.

onelilypadlanelogolong.pngnewheaders2020b.pngHi Leah!

I haven't been active much over the last several months, but I'm working on updating my blog/website for my own art/products:

Melrose Originals

And then this is my affiliate blog (I am also working on updating this one) where I promote all Z products and feature other artists (creators 😉).  (I'm working on a post for your new Story Time shower invites currently Leah).

If I do a feature on a specific artist/store/collection I can add a link to the website via that specific post.

One Lily Pad Lane

(Well, adding my logos was a mess.  Still haven't got the hang of how to work the new forum.  I think you have my art featured already though.  Thanks!)

Hi Melissa, I do indeed have you featured already and that post is one of the most viewed! 😊  I shall happily add another.

Big thank you for preparing a post for storytime invites, I can't wait to see it 😁

@CreativeLeahGIt took me awhile, but I finally got your Storytime feature up  on my blog.

You are crazy fast and efficient getting posts up on your site!  I aspire to your output! I keep trying to find a method/system that can help me get more content out without taking hours per post.

Wonderful thank you!! I love it. Meanwhile re time, it takes me an hour or so too, especially as I handpick the items but it is all part of my working day. But it is why I don't get to do it daily, unfortunately. But I am on 'blog update' rather than 'designing' presently.

Here is my niche blog. I have only recently decided to try to keep it going.  Like Rebecca I have only featured my own store products there.   I appreciate any one who wants to share it.

These tips are from my experience on the Blogger platform and may not pertain to other platforms, though most are general tips.

My tips for blogging are:

  • Make sure you enable rich pins for Pinterest because it gives you a little rank boost.
  •  Make sure you fill out your meta data fields.  I only use the blogger platform, but even it has spots for your post search description and to change your permalink if you want to.  Make sure you repeat your main keywords in the title, the post search description, and the throughout the body of your text.  Consistent SEO is important!
  • You also can add meta data in your main blog settings with your blog description. Make sure you add your important keywords for your blog description because search engines pick that up.

Bringing those first 2 tips together,  Pinterest picks up the title of your blog post and the text you put in the post search description for the pin title and description respectively when you have rich pins enabled and share images directly from your blog. They used to pick up a snippet of the post body, but don't anymore.

  • Use as many words as you can in your post body (2,500 is supposed to be a good number and not more than 5,000).  The more text and the more keyword rich it is, the more google considers you an "authority" on the subject of your blog and that bumps you up in searches.
  • Break up text into sections that use headings or subheadings that are keyword rich and use those keywords in the following paragraph text.
  • Make it easy for visitors to pin images from your blog by adding a Pin It hover button directly to your blog.  There are tutorials out there that tell you how to do that depending on your platform.  I've even customized mine to match my color theme.  This makes it faster and easier for you to pin products from your blog to Pinterest as well, especially if you don't have/want to add a browser button.
  • Put at least 1 image in the recommended Pinterest size in your blog post and use a call to action such as "Pin this for later" in your image caption.
  • Branding is important depending on your overall business goals.  Try and use the same color themes and logos through out your platforms.  That way when you link everything to your blog it looks cohesive and your customer can immediately see that they are still looking at the same artist/designer/creator.  This matters less with pure affiliate sites, though it can help the customers confidence in clicking your links if you make your site look informational and not spammy.
  • On that note, when possible add a custom favicon.  A custom favicon helps your blog really look like your own site.  You can do that in the main blog setting on Blogger.
  • Using a custom domain on your blog can help with branding and the overall professional look of your blog.

That is all I have for now.  Take it all with a grain of salt since I am sure there are varying opinions and I am by no means a successful blogger.  All of these tips definitely add to the time it takes to put up a post and I have yet to streamline it, but that is one of my goals for 2022 as well as implementing more of these tips in my own blogging.

Fantastic tips thank you Malissa! There are some things here I will be implementing now, especially the idea of the 'pin' always for the main image with a call to action.

@Malissa  I am trying to follow your directions above. I am checking through ALL the options on the blogger settings. Should I be worried looking up and including Custom Robots.txt and Custom Robots Header Tags? I have no idea what this is. I will ignore unless you say it's worth my time to research that and figure it out.

@Windy I don’t mess with any of that.  I’m not really sure what it does.

@WindyI found out by chance today that the robots.txt and headers have to do with site indexing for your blog and it is best that we leave them at the default to be found in searches.  So at least we did good leaving them alone!

Be Seen Across MULTIPLE Social Media Networks with this FREE Promotional Feature

If you would like to be a featured Zazzle Designer, Creator on this gift blog. 100xGifts® is an officially registered brand. You can  apply here by simply adding your store link and a bio introducing yourself. I will do the rest!

How do I promote you and your products?

  • I go through your store and HANDPICK a few items that I believe will appeal to customers at this time of year. I'll then make a collection of them to feature here. As a Gold Pro Seller with over ten years of affiliate marketing experience, I have a good idea of what will appeal.
  • I will go over your bio content and make any necessary spelling and grammar corrections. I am not an expert (errors may be made) but this is to reassure those with English as a second language that they can submit content without fear of error on their part.
  • I'll design an eye-catching display for the blog post.
  • I will widely publicize the feature on Twitter, Facebook Groups, and Pages, and all images will be added to Pinterest. It would be helpful if you could also share the post.
  • My affiliate links will appear in the content, but you will receive a royalty on any sales I refer.

As you can see a LOT of work goes into this. All you need to do is write no less than 200 words about yourself and your art, design and submit your details in this thread.

Geez, 2500 words is what I should be writing?? Does anyone even read blog posts that long??

I am trying to use a word counter to see what that really looks like.

This Encyclopedia Brittanica article is hard to count, because it's so chopped up with images. But I am coming up in the range of 2800 words-plus if I take the entire Sumerian period and most of the Akkadian period. Anyway, I think its fair to say I am NOT going to be doing enough research to make an entire encylopedia article on each postcard I post on my new postcard blog which is in its very formative stages. I am making lots of mistakes as I try to get this blog going, but at least I have a coherent idea and a purpose. And now I will implement much of what you outline above, @Malissa but not the 2500 word target! OUCH!

https://postcardplus.blogspot.com/

One of my typical posts seems to have about 200 words including text and headings. So about 10 percent of what Google says I should be supplying?

@Windy

I don't get anywhere near that amount of words. Every time I use the word counter I am at between 300-400 words.  If you look at a lot of food bloggers, for example, their post text is super repetitive and to me it feels tedious to read- just get to the recipe already- so I just skim to the part I am interested in.  I think the main takeaway from that advice is to not just drop a product and say "buy my stuff" if you want your blog to rank higher in searches.

And that was not google saying that.  It was on a blog about blogging best practices.  Maybe I'll try and find it again and see how outdated it is.

Also, I tried to distill all the things I read in umpteen different places to fit the need I personally have of wanting to give value to my readers as well as promote products as an affiliate blogger and make money which is hard when you aren't in a niche with a popular topic like food, lifestyle, fitness, or mommy bloggers.

I found this in a quick search that gives 1500-2500 as a number and has a breakdown of what the smaller word counts achieve.  It might be worth a glance, however I agree with you that I won't ever hit those upper targets.  I can't even keep up doing my smaller posts, plus making pinterest optimized images, adding in all the links and alt text, and then time to actually create!

Very interesting. Some of the points I liked-

  • if the article is longer, people stay longer on your site. Which is good.
  • using ten pics is good, partially because it keeps people on site longer. This works for my postcard blog. I can just find ten postcards to feature in each post and write a paragraph about each one.
  • Short paragraphs are good because a long paragraph looks formidable on the phone. I like short paragraphs, so that works great for me.

I don't know about spending a few weeks researching though, which I what I think might be required for me to come up with a massive authoritative article of nearly 2500 words. I really don't want to be one of those blogger who just keeps saying the same stuff twelve times in the article (a syndrome to which you referred elsewhere).

I have bookmarked this article and will use it as I develop my strategy going forward.

Thanks!

2500 to 5000 words? That's an Encyclopedia Brittanica article! I tried to count the words in this article about Mesopotamian art and got up to about 2800 with all the Sumerian section and most of the Akkadian section.

Look at this monster, it's huge! I stopped counting because there was so much cut and paste involved.

Is that really what we are supposed to be writing every post? And does anyone read posts of that length?? I think it's safe to say I am not going to be researching and writing a full encylopedia article for each postcard I post on the little blog I just started. It's in its very formative stages and I am making a lot of mistakes as I get started but at least I have a coherent idea and a solid purpose to guide me.

Thanks @Malissa for the tips you outline above. I am going to implement some of this info. But I do not see how I can ever produce even ONE article of the required length. I think I am already stretching it at my current 150 to 350 words.

https://postcardplus.blogspot.com/

I hope I did not double post. After I thought I posted, I could not find what I wrote, so I wrote the whole thing again, lol.

Thanks so much @shellifitz ! You might be interested to know that I came across your postcard NOT while looking in your own page, but by browsing for cool items to add to that particular page. Which means your card came up in what I read today is called "organic search", which apparently is what we should all be shooting for, as those hits show we have good SEO. I found that beautiful card, and then realized, "oh, it's one of Shelli's!" (This happens a lot by the way, me happening on your products!  and then saying, "oh it's one of Shelli's!)

I added you to my link list and tested it! Thanks again

What fun to read and see others' blogs and sites. In the past I have always had sites with blogs. I loved making content, more than products 😆, and used to spend so much time on them. I followed all the rules, word count, meta data even alt tags for images. As much as I loved making the blogs they never made me money. 😔 But I feel inspired and may try to re-awaken at least one of them to give it a go again.
