Collections Disappearing

I had 24 of my 44 collections missing in my public shop, but I can see all 44 collections in the back-end of my shop. I went in to check and make sure I had a default shop checked and visible in that shop checked and after I did that the collections disappeared from my public shop. Now I only have 11 shops showing in my public shop.

While the original problem has not been resolved and there is still a bug or a glitch, I did get the collections to show in my public storefront.

I don't know if this will stick and the collections will show up permanently or temporarily, but I went one by one and deleted 1 product from each collection and then immediately added that product back to the collection, I deleted it from.

Sometimes, I had to delete the product and add it back a couple of times, for the collections to show up.

If the collections disappear again, I will post here and let everyone know, so no one tries this and it doesn't work.

Hopefully after the holiday season, this problem can be addressed.

It seems to be happening to more than just you. Several have posted about the disappearing collections since yesterday. My guess is that it is a glitch/bug. Pretty sure Mods and Tech are aware. Hopefully the Mods will post tomorrow saying there is a fix in the works.
My thoughts are that the default shop change you made seems to have also set off the collection changes, and that the infamous indexer will show up and your stuff will show up, but when is the real question.
You may have inadvertently fixed it, and just have to wait it out to see if you are (hopefully) pleasantly surprised when they show up again

Thanks @idraw, the thing is I didn't change anything. I just went in and checked to see if the default and visible shops were checked. They were all the same, as when I first set them up. Hopefully it is a glitch, because this has been going on for at least a week. I meant to report it earlier, but with the holidays, I got super busy and forgot. I set up a new collections last night and that one showed up immediately. This morning I have 13 that show up out of 45 collections. Thanks for the help, hopefully it can get checked soon and fixed.

Hi plumb4me, well I reread your original post. Interesting that you didn’t change anything and this still happened.. Got to be a glitch, question is how long till it gets noticed in the forum by the mods,and gets fixed. You said you noticed it over a week ago.

Hopefully it’s a glitch not a feature. 

This is definitely frustrating but ’composed’ the following to relieve a little stress…the only thing help ful in the following is the remark about it being a glitch. (Glitches just wanna have fu—un. Sung to the girls wanna have,,,fun original) So, to continue….
Apparently you woke the indexer up from a nap when you added a new collection so it woke the spider (who is really the indexers brother in law) who grabbed the new collection and inadvertently grabbed two old ones too. So now you are up by  two. This has to be some weird coding bug/glitch. And there should be a ‘standard’ reply from the indexer saying ‘hey there (for guys) or hey babe (for chicks/girls) please I’m sorry, it’s not you it’s me”….and a similar reply from the spider saying “please don’t swat me, I’m already feeling crushed by this as it is”, okay?

Yes, I noticed this last week sometime. I thought maybe it would be fixed and they would show up at some point. Has anyone else experienced this?

Well, I'm back to 11 collections showing out of the 45 again. Now, the one I made last night has disappeared. I'm afraid to check anything else or I may lose the 11 collections showing in my public shop. All the collections still show up in the back-end of my shop.

I have 2 other shops and none of the collections disappeared from those 2 shops, they show up in the public and back-end.

I am having a similar issue. My latest collection does not appear ONLY under the collections tab on the public marketplace. It appears everywhere else. I have collections on my home page and it appears there as well. I guess the good news is, the link works, so if you are promoting the collection off the site, people can still find it using the link. This is however disturbing when things don't seem to be working as they are supposed too. Hope it is just a glitch and is fixed soon.

The collections are still showing in my public shop, so hopefully this is a permanent fix.

I know there are now 3-4 post in the forums about this problem. Hopefully Zazzle will combine the post into 1.

I received an email from Zazzle customer support this morning and the Zazzle technical team is aware of the issue and they are working on a permanent fix for the problem. The steps I listed below for an immediate fix, is still working in my shop and all of my collections are showing up in my public storefront, with no problems.

Thank you for posting and for the updates! I just discovered missing collections and it was really upsetting! It seems to be older collections I haven't added to in awhile. So frustrating. I will try your temporary solution of adding a product or deleting/adding a product to hopefully get them to display. Hopefully there's a solution soon.

Hello, I also have an issue with my collections.
9 of 13 are visible on the bottom of homepage, after a lot of scrolling, but on the "collection" section, only 2 (!!!) of 13 collections are visible for public.
This is for 2-3 weeks already...how can this be reported to Zazzle technical team?
I feel that I work with no purpose if only 2 of 13 can be viewed.

(For a while there was also a bug with the categories, but it seems to be better now.)

I found a solution to this the other day here in the forums, but I cannot remember where it is. Anyway, it said to delete one of the listings in a collection. Then, add it back if you want to, but you don't have to, then the collection shows up in the public marketplace again. I had 16 collections and only three were showing, now they are all there again!

I posted this solution back in December, I guess Zazzle tech is still aware of the issue and is still working on a solution.

I did have a problem when I reorganized the collections, some of the collections disappeared again. I had to check to see which ones disappeared and do the same thing again, delete 1 product from the collection and add it back to the collection, if you want to add it back.

Well, first I decided to wait  thinking that maybe the sistem was loaded and it takes a little time until the information is updated, or until the technical team finds a sollution.
Since nothing happend, I tried your solution AND IT WORKED!

Collections are still disappearing in my public shop. Now, when I add new products to any of my collections, I have other collections disappear, from my public shop. I have to go on a hunt and figure out which collection disappeared.

I can no longer just add 1 new product to the missing collection and it show up. I have to go through the steps, I did before, (delete 1 product from the missing collection and immediately add it back to the collection, in order for it to show up.)

Is there any idea when this issue will be resolved?

Well, you marked this discussion as Solved so I doubt anyone here has looked at it lately. In the future I'd only mark a post as the solution if it's actually the solution. (I de-selected the post so that it no longer shows as a solution.)

Next time you have a collection go missing can you please link me to it? Maybe create a new collection and see if you can reproduce the issue using that new collection. This would allow us to take a look at that collection and see if there's anything awry. I don't know exactly what steps you're taking here so an example would be a good start.

I'll start a new post next time. I added new products to several different collage collections. After I finished, I had 55 collections show up in the backend, but only 54 collections showed up in my public shop. I had to look for the missing collection and I found it. It was just a random collection. I have already corrected the problem, so the missing collection shows up now. Next time, before I correct the problem, I'll send you the link to the missing collection.

The solution, I tried adding a new product to that missing collection, but it still would not show up in my public shop. I had to delete 1 product from the missing collection and then I immediately added the deleted product back to the missing collection and then the missing collection showed up in my public shop.

This is still an issue, and it's quite difficult for people to figure out what's even going on, not to mention figure out a workaround to an obvious bug.  Can we please get the priority upped with the Dev team?  I can't imagine how many people on Zazzle have this issue, with no idea it's actually happening to their store.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue still.

I can see 18 collections on your public store page. This number should be correct based on the number of collections in the backend of your store with at least 4 products.

I was able to fix one collections by the delete add workaround, so that might have been done before you checked.  And I wasn’t aware of the more rule of 4 or more products. (Is that documented anywhere?). Anyway, now I think I’m good, and I appreciate you checking it out!  Thanks!

Q:  Why isn’t a collection of mine showing up publicly in my store? 

A:  To show up in your store, your collection needs to be set to public and have at least four products in it.

UPDATE 5: NOW I went back, clicked on Public Storefront Mode again and got the Home page display of "Categories" I was complaining about in Update 4. So the buyer sees 11 CATEGORIES on the home page but only  6 on the Colelctions page laid out in a MESS with 3 random produts in a box with the Category TITLE UNDER THE BOX ARE YOU KIDDING ME. A complete joke. I quit. Your pathing, code, architecture are all an unpredictable inconsistant spaghetti MESS

UPDATE 3: OMG when I view my store in Public Storefront Mode I only see SIX INSTEAD OF TEN COLLECTIONS. IS THIS A JOKE?  You'll never get this sorted out I can tell. The COLLECTIONS in STOREFRONT MODE are laid out HORRIBLY and UGLY. WHY are they different than what I SEE in Store Management mode on HOME LANDING PAGE "Categories" which is how it USED TO BE? With ONE COVER not 3/4 RANDOM PRODUCTS that I don't even chose to display. 

UPDATE 2: I removed Collection "Picky" and the missing "Great Dane" showed up. I added "Picky" back in and "Great Dane" disappeared so YOUR CODE IS BROKEN.

UPDATE 1: So I don't even know what's going on with this collection thing, I've ignored it until lately but it seems like I have TWO "STORES" with the same exactly data/products -  one under my business name I've always managed and somehow one under my MEMBER NAME what the heck. They EACH have different numbers of collections and each collection randomly changes and is out of sync with each other.

WHAT A MESS.

SAME PROBLEM. You complicated this application with this collections nonsense and now it's DEFECTIVE. I shouldn't have to test your code. I have a SMALL store with only 10 collections but I've been a Seller for 13 YEARS - my LARGEST COLLECTION WON"T SHOW UP UNDER COLLECTIONS! So I guess I'm going to remove them all and see what happens when I put them back in "most important order". SIGH. I used to test software for the largest phone company in the world and this is UNSATISFACTORY when our stuff is held hostage.

I rearranged my collections and several disapeared. I came to this forum and now see I am not alone. I hope they are not gone forever.
