Cover Photo Issues

1. For the cover photo to appear, it requires multiple uploads (at least 2 uploads) until the Upload Cover Photo link changes to Remove Cover Photo.

2. Changing the cover photo does not work. It will still show the the old cover photo OR will show thumbnails.

Using: Safari MacOS Monterey 12.6

Thanks in advance for any tips or workarounds 🙂

I'm having the same problem @powskers . For me. it always takes two tries before the upload sticks. Removing a cover image gives the illusion that it's working .... it will disappear from the thumbnails, and so I'll upload a new cover image to replace it. The new image appears in the thumbnails fine, so I select it but the first cover image will still be the one that shows on the product pages.

Just amending to note that one of my new, replaced cover images did show up on the product pages this morning so maybe it's just a matter of waiting for indexing to occur.

I think you're right about the delay being due to indexing. However, uploading it twice is a nice trick, because it allows you to go into the product merchandising and set the default to the custom cover image right then and there. Otherwise, you have to somehow remember that you've uploaded a cover image and go back to it in a few days to set the merchandising option. Maybe others are organized enough for all that, but I'm sure not! 😋

Me too! It's hard to keep track. Also, I am afraid of making a mistake since replacing the cover photo does not show the latest so I keep double checking before each upload. It gets tiring.

Thanks Baylee, will try to check again in a day 🙂

I have noticed lots newly posted but more worryingly older products thumbnail in collections have reverted to a default view 😪 They look terrible.

Hi @mylittleeden,

I'm sorry for any inconvenience here. We're investigating the issues with collections already so hopefully there will be an update soon. We will keep this thread dedicated to the cover photo issue mentioned by the original poster however.

Thanks,

Pádraig.

Hi Padraig,

I have removed the cover photos that were showing as thumbnails. I will send a link if i encounter again. Thanks.

Hi @powskers,

I'm very sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue here. Can you provide a link to the product that still shows the old cover photo or thumbnail and an image of what it should be? Can you also state when you made this change to the product? We can take a look at this for you then.

Thanks.

Pádraig 🙂

There seems to be a big indexing delay with cover photos. I did 21 on Saturday, and only 3 "stuck" by the end of the day. Today (Monday), still only those 3 were showing as default. But the others were there under the main image, just not the default. So I went in and changed all the defaults to the new cover photos. So far, they haven't stuck in my back end, but they are all showing correctly in the collection!

I am having the same issue...I have uploaded several custom cover photos over the last several days but so far I am only finding one that stuck - the others don't show.

I uploaded 2 cover photos last night. Both seem to have taken at the time. However, one of them is showing a "sorry product image not available" on my backend, when I click on the product it's showing the wrong view (that seems par for the course, however, due to indexing issues), wrong view in mp search, but it's fine in my collections & public store view. This has never happened before to me.Screen Shot 2022-10-10 at 10.35.13 AM.png

Wish I could delete my above post because this evening my cover photo is now appearing correctly in my backend & on the product page. Guess it just needed some time to correctly index?

I have the same problem.  I uploaded a lot of cover photos about a month ago and only a few show the new photo.  The rest all have the new photo uploaded, but the main photo that shows is the old ones.

Now that the only designs shown on the popular and low-high section are ones with cover photos, those of us having problems don't have a chance at any of our designs being featured.

for me this is not new. I have always had to add the photo at least twice. After you uploaded the first time it saves in your images so you should just be able to select it the second time. Not sure why it has to be done twice but seems to have always been this way for me
