Media manager image size isn't showing up right in collections cover image

I used media manager and uploaded a 1700px x 1700 px image and it uploaded fine. When I clicked on my collections "change cover" button, I uploaded the same exact image the I used for media manager and the result is the white border inside of the cover art is gone. Now it looks different than my other collection covers. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or if I'm using the wrong size?

Do we need to produce two different sets of images for media manager then collections covers? I'm a bit confused.
With the old cover art process I was able to use the same image. Maybe this has changed?
I attached a screenshot to show the border issue - on the left is the original default border that zazzle has. The right is after I uploaded my media manager image.
Has anyone else had this happen?

When you upload your own cover image for a Collection, the image fills the whole square. If you don't add a cover for the Collection, it defaults to showing the first product in the collection and in that case has the border area. In this screen cap of my Collections you can see that all the ones I've added a cover to fill the whole square while the first two have the border because I didn't add my own cover to them, they just show the first product in the Collection.

In your screen cap, the right image has your own uploaded cover image for the Collection so it fills the whole square while the left Collection has no cover so is showing the first product in it and the border.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this great screenshot and for the explanation. I even contacted zazzle customer support and it didn't solve my issue. This clears things up for me and now I can move forward... thank you again 🙂
