There used to be a pop-up message for products using an image displaying glitter or gold/silver foil saying that no real foil or glitter was used (something along these lines).
The message seems to have disappeared, is this deliberate or is this a glitch?

I'm still seeing it on my products. The message isn't triggered by what the image looks like, it's triggered by the title and key words (and maybe the description too, but I'm not sure.) If you didn't use the word "foil" it wouldn't be triggered - maybe it's misspelled or something? Or maybe it is just a glitch. Is the message missing on all products where it used to appear, or just certain ones?

I checked it again. In titles where I use the text glitter there is a pop-up text with the glitter details are simulated. Then I have products with the text silver and gold in the title and there is no pop-up where I thought there was one before, but maybe I'm mistaken. It had my attention because a customer who ordered stickers with the text gold in the title expected the stickers to be gold foil.

I don't think the words silver or gold will trigger the message. It would be nice to have a comprehensive list, but I'm pretty sure these words do trigger it: glitter, foil, lace, leather, metal - I'm sure there are more.
I have mixed feelings about those popups because while the intent is to clarify, I think they also confuse some customers. I frequently get messages that say things like "so that part of the design will just be blank?!?" It's especially bad if you trigger more than one warning. I used to use "gold faux foil lace frills" in my keywords, but the message would say: "The foil and lace elements are simulated in the artwork by the Creator. These elements will not be used in the making of this product." and people could NOT figure that out. So I've switched to "lacy gold faux foil frills" and that seems to produce less confusion.
I keep thinking there should be better wording. "simulated in the artwork" doesn't seem to get through to people. Maybe "printed with ink" would make more sense to them? I dunno. I guess it's an imperfect universe. Sigh.

I have a friend that does hair, and when ladies come in and ask for silver highlights, they realize it's actually just a very light grey. I don't think they expect to walk out looking like they have Christmas tinsel on their heads. 😉
That being said, it doesn't mean that for products sold online that descriptions aren't sometimes confusing.

I find if I tag "faux gold foil" it will trigger the pop up but if its just gold or silver it won't be there.
