Modify Design tool not saving on existing product

Hi! I have a few existing designs that I would like to modify. I click "Modify Design" in the Listing Tools bar at the top of a listing. Once I finish the edits, none of the Listing Tools are clickable links and it does not save my design. The only workaround I've found is to start a new listing and delete the existing one. Has anyone else run into this and have a solution?

I experienced this issue yesterday. Finished a product, tried to post it for sale, got an error multiple times.

When I looked back in my saved designs, it was not there.

I was hoping it would magically appear somewhere (either posted for sale, or in saved designs), after some time, but so far it has not.

Everything else seems to be working correctly though, I've posted other designs since.

Hi @everydaypaperie

Thank you guys for highlighting this with us. Can you provide screenshots of the issue so that we can take a closer look for you? 🔍

I reached out to Zazzle's help e-mail and they responded very quickly. They confirmed you have to create a new listing if you are making changes to the customization of the design. Below is their response:

Unfortunately, once you have posted a product to the Zazzle marketplace, you cannot adjust certain parameters like the fundamental design elements (text and image) and the ability for customers to customize your item.

The only solution available is to recreate the product and post it for sale again.

Hi @everydaypaperie ,

Thanks for your inquiry into this. We do have a 'product replace' feature available to Creators, but permission has to be granted. I'm afraid we're not granting access to it right now as our team is overwhelmed with requests and we need to focus on customer-orientated reviews for orders etc. (the product replacement feature requires a person to review the request). Please also note that this replacement feature is intended for products that have a sales history, and is intended to not lose those. So if you don't have any, you can go ahead and simply create a new listing with your desired changes.  We hope to build this tool out so its usage isn't so restricted and hope to do so in the near future. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at Team.Designer@zazzle.com (Dedicated email for Creator-related functions such as this).

Have a great Friday!

Just to note the problem it can create for us, I worked on a design and went to replace it but it closed out both the tab I had open and the item in my store. So now I have to recreate it.

1. I can understand not allowing an amendment on a product if there have already been sales on it. For repeat customers, they expect to get the product in the same form that they originally purchased it in. Otherwise, it would be nice to see this feature for everyone as for bloggers it is highly frustrating to have to deal with dead links.

2. It would also be nice to have "amend the shop" option. When we niche out we are forced to create new listings. This is highly unproductive when we are offering the exact same product. Again, 3rd party affiliates who are bloggers are also on the losing end of this as they have to deal with 'dead links'. Being able to 'niche out' keeps our listings organized and helps us provide a better service to customers.

Hi James, as Zazzle grows, sellers should be granted an edit/replace feature for files that might be faulty or that we have upgraded in any way. Etsy allows that to be done. Can the creator team please look into adding this feature for us please? It would be nice to keep sales history intact as well as mockup images that have been uploaded already. We just need a file swap option.

Hello James! I have been searching everywhere for an update since your post last fall. Is there any plan to update this? It seems like such a silly oversight?! Imagine my item has tons of repins and engagement.... and the only way for me to adjust the design is to delete it completely?  That is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I thought the only place you can not edit a post in this day in age is twitter  😬

Hello:)

This is a problem...I have a couple of white specks on a black area in one of my designs. I fixed this in Photoshop and now would like to upload the corrected image. It is the exact same image with the flaws corrected. There is one big problem with this situation....if we have a large number of views on the older version...(essentially the same image as the older version) the views go back to  "0".?Has this ever been addressed?

Thank You:)

Unfortunately I cannot recreate or send screenshots - I didn't think to take them at the time.

I was fully finished filling out all the details to sell an item, clicked "post for sale" and got a red text info saying something like "sorry, something went wrong, please try again". I checked all my fields, and tried to post a few more times with the same result.

I went back to to my saved designs, and tried clicking through to start over from the saved design, I think I was able to successfully post for sale, but it didn't appear in my new items, and the saved design was removed from my saved designs area.

Tried logging out, and then back in, to see if it would reappear, but it didn't - it was Wednesday just before 5PM EST. It was on a "Flat Paper Sheet" template - I started with an existing design that I made just a few weeks ago, edited it, and that was my new design that had the glitches mentioned above.

Just providing more detail in case it helps or is related to the issue.

Thanks!
