New designs not allowing customization

I just created my first design (a wedding invite) and it’s only coming up with an “edit” option versus a “customize” option, which is obviously an issue since no one is going to purchase an invite they can’t customize.

I have the box checked to allow customization but it doesnt seem to be working. It hasn’t been 24 hours since I created the design so maybe that’s the issue but I don’t want to create any more designs until I have this sorted out.

So I went to take a look at your store and found the invite, I believe.  Currently, the invite is an image that you've uploaded, text and all.

In order to be able to enable customer customization, the parts of the design that you want the customer to be able to change has to be done utilizing Zazzle's fonts.  This will allow you to turn them into template fields.  (Right side of design tool, may need to click more options and scroll down.)  Do a quick search in the Marketplace and find a wedding invite that lets you go into the design tool.  There is a lot you can't see, but you will be able to see how the designer uploaded different images and you will be able to see the text fields.  You can also upload individual images that you can turn into templates as well.  Then the customer can replace those images with their own.

Once you properly utilize Zazzle text and template options, you will be able to get a customize button.

Hi! Thanks for responding so quickly. 🙂

I’m able to see the sell it button and successfully list the product. But when I look at the product from the customer’s point of view there’s only an “edit design” button versus a “customize” button.

@AlishaStarr

If you click it what happens?  They go into the design tool?  If so, then when you published on your product page you did not enable "Show "Customize it" button?"  You will have to republish and make sure that it is toggled to yes.  It usually is by default....

Try that and see if it works.......

Or you did not properly use template fields in your design....

Ah, that makes sense. I sell a few other places and I’ve always been able to upload a PNG, SVG, etc. so I wasn’t familiar with this type of designing.

Thank you so much for your help! It’s much appreciated.
