No more Zoomed in detail view ?

I have just noticed this thing today, when I click the '+' or zoom button on product page image, it opens up to a small compact view instead of the earlier detailed view ! Is it only happening with me as a temporary glitch or is it something new rolled out by Zazzle ?

Please bring back the detailed zoom view !

Are you sure you're pressing the "zoom" + and not the preview window +? The "small compact view" could be the preview window. It's (usually) on the bottom right. Whereas the zoom in is on the bottom left. Just a thought?

Mine is doing it too. And it's not the preview view within the design tool. It's the main view on the product page that always allowed us to zoom in and review finer details.

OHHHHH! DUH! I'm sorry. I missed the part about the "on the product page". Yes, that is something I used all the time.

Hi Creators,

Hi Creators - Want to confirm that this is expected behavior. Based on user feedback, we made an adjustment as the zoom level was previously too close, making it difficult to see captions and image labels or identify what was being shown. However, we appreciate your input and will share your feedback with our product team.

Thank you, Z team for this change!
The "zoomed" previews were way too big for me to see in one view without scrolling before (computer at 1920 x 1080 setting). This is wonderful to now see the entire product image again on one screen. It was too hard to visualize the product/design before when I couldn't see the whole image at once.

I think it will be better to have two levels of zoom then, first click for compact view and second click for the close up detailed view like we used to have before ... I used to review the close up of any product before posting it, specially for invitations !

The new zoom doesn't make sense. It's smaller than the image you click on.

Yes, the texts on cards and invitations are no more readable in new compact zoom ... its getting very difficult to check before posting.

That's odd. On my Windows laptop, set at 1920 x 1080 w/ default scale setting at 100%, and browser zoom level also at 100%, the regular page image is about 644 x 644. Clicked for enlarged view, it's about 866 x 866. So significantly larger for me but still fits on screen without scrolling, including the caption. 👍 I just browsed some wedding invites which are usuallly pretty text-heavy and didn't have any trouble reading them.

This is what I see. Zooming the image makes it smaller:

Product page without zoom:

Product page with zoom:

Important: The only way I can make the image larger is when I click on it if I have the browser in full-screen mode.

I don't know why its different on different screens ... but for me, the default view of product page looks larger than new zoomed view ! Please bring back the earlier close up zoom, at least as an option for who needs a detailed view for reviewing products

The image that has the gray background is the one that was supposed to show the details.

I'm thinking, the product page is responsive to your screensize, so those on a larger monitor / higher res are going to see the default pic larger than those on smaller screens. But when you click to view larger and get that overlayed screen view w/ the "zoomed" image, perhaps that view is coded to a specific size. Therefore it's possible that the "zoomed" view does actually end up smaller than one's default page view. Someone more knowledgeable than I could probably figure it out from the source code.
I love this change though. It is much preferable for my screen size. I am very happy to be able to see the captions now with the full image, that tell me if I am looking at front, back, designer's custom image etc..

@ColsCreations  I thought about this also. So I made my image fit my 17" screen, then tried the zoom. It was larger, only because the entire image was larger. It was not proportionately larger than the original page.

This is the default setting for my Windows laptop.
WinScale.jpg

In my browser (Firefox), my viewport size after accounting for toolbars is 1856 x 966.
The default image on a product page is approx 644 x 644

LT-default.jpg

When I click to open the "zoomed" view, the image is approx 866 x 866.

LT-zoom.jpg

On the external monitor I have connected  (a flatscreen TV), the viewport size is only 1520 x 698.
On that, the default image view is also approx 644 x 644.
But now in this case, with the "zoomed" view, the image is approx 595 x 595, so smaller than the default view.

The caption bar in the "zoomed" view is the same approx 70 px high in both cases. So that's adding 70px to the vertical dimensions in that view. So to keep things square, the width of the actual product image has to be reduced to account for that vertical space of the caption.
So I think I get what's happening. The size you see in the "zoomed' view depends on the vertical res of your viewport so as to incorporate the caption. I personally love having the caption & full image on one screen, no scrolling, but I can see why this would give wildly different results depending on the viewer's setting.

Additional note incase the above didn't make sense:
My TV monitor's max vertical viewing dimension is 698. Add 70 px for the caption bar to the default 644 image, that's 714. So the whole thing has to be shrunk down in scale to fit on one screen w/ no scrolling. Hence the "zoomed" view being about 50 px smaller than the default view.

Yes, The "zoom" only makes the details SMALLER. Not useful at all.

Hello,

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the recent change to the zoom feature. In my opinion, the zoom is now too small, or there should be a second zoom option to properly see details.

As someone who designs stationery and small printed items, I’ve noticed that customers who edit their orders are drastically increasing font sizes, sometimes 3 to 4 times the original design. This seems to be because they can't read the details properly with the limited zoom, which ultimately distorts the design.

It’s unfortunate, as I preferred the previous zoom functionality. I believe buyers need to see details clearly before purchasing, and this new zoom makes it nearly impossible.

Exactly, I too feel the same
