Position and Ligature tails (swashes) issues when Blooming Elegant Script was replaced by Morgana

I posted this in other threads, but I'm afraid it will get lost among all other messages, so thought it was better to make a specific thread here in "technical issues" so the Zazzle technical team gets aware of the situation. I found two important problems when products with Blooming Elegant Script were replaced automatically by the new Morgana font.

The FIRST ISSUE is regarding the placement of the text in Morgana. It was placed much closer to the second line of text than how I originally had my Blooming Elegant Script text. This is important because now when clients add names with long downwards letters like f, g, j, p, q and y, the text will overlap with the line of text below! Please see the example image below.

I was very careful while designing this menu to leave enough space so all letters will fit without going over the last name, and now this font replacement messed it all up!

The SECOND ISSUE is in reference to the ending tails (swashes). The design was originally changed to a Morgana's shorter end tail that looked fine, similar to the one in Blooming Elegant Script (as you can see in the images above). The problem came up when I played on the template text box and tried it with different names, then it suddenly changed to a super long tail! And all names I tried after, kept adding a super long tail repeatedly, and never went back to the original shorter tail, disrupting the whole design.  Please see example image below:

This means that once clients start editing the template with their names the swash will change to this long tail messing up the design.
Even if I manage to manually fix the text placement on each one of the menus and "replace" the products, the issue with super long swashes appearing after a few client edits would still be there! 😞
In case you need it, here is the  link to menu

I'm seeing the same thing on several products that I checked.

The previews with the default text look great, but when I add in different text, the swash at the beginning turns to a different longer swash, which pushes the text entirely to the right, and the new swash does not connect.

Even when I try to retype the same placeholder text, the new swash remains, and it does not go back into place.

ETA: I just viewed a product that had been migrated to Morgana, which looked ok on the preview, and when I placed the cursor in the text box, even before I typed anything, the longer swash popped into place and pushed the rest of the text to another line below it.

THEN, when I entered a new name, the old swash appeared and I was able to test out multiple names and the swashes were fine.

Of note is that when I checked on this particular product earlier today, the original preview had split the name to two lines and showed the swashes incorrectly.

Hopefully it's all part of the process and it will settle down?

I'm having an issue with swashes in the template text boxes. As soon as you edit the text the swashes switch to something different and it breaks https://www.loom.com/share/8a69872d0aaf423b81cdeead9df83efb

Thanks Laura! Good to know the swashes issue has been reported in other threads too  🙂
I'm also flagging issues with the position where the new Morgana text is being placed. In some cases, the Morgana text was added much lower than where the original Blooming Elegant  text was, so now text with lower leg stokes like "f", "g", "j", "p","q"and "y" will overlap with the text in the line below it. (example on my first image at the beginning of thor thread).

I'm sad to see that in two weeks nobody from Zazzle has commented on this font swap. Morgana isn't even visually similar to Blooming Elegant Script.  Its a heavier weight, its a different personality of font altogether. So many of us have designer specifically with Blooming elegant in mind because of its weight and it's swashes.. Fonts are such a deliberate choice in design and the wrong front changes the entire feel of a design, not to mention this font being a taller scale and heavier weight just doesn't work in every design. I am not looking forward to having to go through all my designs in all my stores and finding what has been ruined, when my focus right now should be preparing for the holidays. This is absolutely going to eat valuable time, and there aren't any new fonts that I have found in the offerings that even look similar enough to BE, let alone have the swash capabilities the same way. And we haven't gotten new sans serifs yet, so whatever they have replaced those with are gonna be a mess too... as that font was a lot shorter (AND ALSO WAS AN AUTOMATIC ALL CAPS FONT)

no wonder sales have been slower this week or so.. a lot of my designs  probably look awful lol.
