Store Categories Missing when viewing Public Storefront

I am having issues with store categories. As of today 3rd, December, 2023 I DO NOT see nor am I able to access all of my store categories which I created in my public storefront. The only way I am able to access and view all of my store's categories and subcategories is through the manage storefront window. I created both DEMO or TEST categories and also created official store categories. The only categories showing up in my public storefront are the DEMO or TEST categories and subcategories NOT my store's branded categories. I am including a couple of screen captures to further illustrate and explain what is happening. Any input or suggestions are needed and appreciated. I am still in the process of setting up my Zazzle shop.

My browser is CHROME and yes I have checked all of the CHROME extensions and turned off all ad blockers.

Not all of my categories are displaying with in  my public storefront. The only way I am able to access, view or use all of my store categories is in the store management window on the back end.

Very frustrated and confused.

Could someone from Zazzle's tech team look into this further?

Thanks in advance. zaz_CATEGORIES2.PNGZazzleCategoriesISSUES2.PNGZazzleCategoriesISSUES1.PNG

You must have (public) products in the category for them to show up in your storefront.

It goes without saying that the best way to set your store up is up to you, but I would encourage you to go ahead and work on it with everything public and visible or at the very least direct only. At least half or more of the hurdles you are running into are because you are working with everything hidden.  Customers rarely visit our storefronts unless you send them there so it is unlikely you will have very many people that see your shop while it is under construction and I promise it will save you a lot of headaches.

I am using a WINDOWS 10 Desktop computer and again my browser is Chrome. I have also tested the integrity of categories on my Android phone. The same is true. All of my store categories with the exception of the TEST SECTION categories have disappeared and cannot be accessed or used except through the manage storefront window.

I am sorry just so we are clear I meant to say RETURN TO STORE MANAGEMENT window is the only way I can access, view and use all of my store's categories and subcategories. Sorry for any confusion. The first screenshot shows the Return to Store Management window. The second shows my actual public storefront. The only categories showing up in my public storefront are the black TEST SECTION and not the blue with bold yellow font which are aaaws, 01970 Gifts Souvenir Shop and 01970 Gifts Fashion Boutique. Only my test demo categories are showing up in my public storefront. Thanks. I am so confused and just want to get this sorted out please.

@TAngelone First thing to check is whether you've set your category's visibility

Sara_H_0-1701638872779.png

You can do this by pressing edit - Edit category (where the category thumbnail is) and uncheck the box if it's checked.

Another thing to take into account is if these cats have been created today (or yesterday) they can take upto 72 hours (possibly longer) for them to appear in your store front.

Tech Team won't be in until tomorrow (they don't work on a sunday) so they'll probably investigate then if there's a tech problem

edited to add - if you have all the product hidden too (which is a possibility as you've mentioned before you're setting up your shop) that may be another reason your categories don't appear as they should as there's no products being seen in them

Sara,

Thanks for your response. I do have my categories set to be visible. And all categories were created over 2 weeks ago. I have emailed the Zazzle support team with screen captures. They all displayed properly with in my public storefront and then suddenly and inexplicably disappeared. I suspect there is some sort of technical glitch. Thanks again.

@TAngelone it could be a technical glitch - or if you have renamed them - they need to index once again (and as I said could take a up to a week to appear)

Do we have to have products contained with in a category for the category to show up on the home page? I do have some DEMO TEST DUMMY products that are housed under the DEMO TEST categories - all are set to PUBLIC and not PRIVATE. My official store categories DO NOT contain any products yet. Is this the reason why my branded categories are NOT showing up in my public storefront? Thanks in advance.

All of my official store categories and subcategories contain branded covers and are all set to be visible and accessible via the home page.

@TAngelone so you don't have any public products in your branded categories or are they all hidden?

No I do NOT have any products in said branded categories. The only products that I presently have with in my store are DEMO TEST products under the DEMO TEST categories. All demo test products are visible and NOT hidden. Again there are no products under the branded categories as I have NOT posted any yet. I am still working on collections and SEO related product and collection tags and descriptions. Thanks again. I am very frustrated and confused. I will wait to hear back.

I thought that in order for categories to show up on  your shop's home page you had to have a cover obviously and be sure that the category is set to visible.

Again I have already taken said steps.

It's frustrating because I cannot proceed with setting up my shop! Sorry but I am very frustrated and confused.

Thanks again for your response. I don't get it!

I will just wait. I am still trying to set up my store categories and I have made extensive changes. Sorry if I seem impatient but I am hard pressed to get my shop up and running. Thank you Sara for your input and suggestions. You are always so helpful. You are valued, needed and appreciated.

As Malissa mentioned above, Categories will only show if there's products added to them.
