I'm dipping my toes, very, very slowly in personalized invitations. Every time I think I'm ready, there's something I forgot or missed. May I please ask if I'm forgetting something in the following areas:
1. Text - I click on "make it a template object" and fill out "project page label".
2. Image I want to keep in design but don't care if it's moved or scaled - I click on "make objects permanent and always visible"
3. Stock images - I click on "make it a template object", I click on "fill" mode, and I click on "force customers to replace with their own content". Then I fill out "project page label".
Is there anything I'm missing? Anything I should add to the list?
I greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!

Don't make objects permanent, customers might want to replace it with their own

That's great advice. So I'll treat them as stock images. I really hope I'm not missing anything. There's so much to learn!

I'm sorry! I have another question.
Why does anyone need to choose "force customers to replace with their own content"? If one just clicks on "make it a template object" and clicks on "fill" mode, the customer can delete the photo and replace it with one of their own.
What's the purpose, then, of choosing "force customers to replace with their own content"?
Further, I noticed that the customer also sees a message that states "There is an issue with this design. Click to find out". And it's because the designer clicked on "force customers to replace. . ."

Where are you seeing "force customers to replace with their own content"? I've never come across that when making products.

After you click on "make this a template object", it's right at the bottom.

After you choose an image (not text) and then click on 'make this a template object', scroll to the bottom. It should be there.

Okay I see it now. Some people license images to be used as placeholders only, so I suppose that is why it's there, to prevent a customer from buying the product with the placeholder image

Ah, I see. This makes sense. I get my placeholder images in the public domain. Maybe to be safe, I should still click on the "force customers, etc" button. Thanks for all your help!

Customers do not know the site as well as we do, so they might put a product in their cart and FORGET to change the image to, say, a pic of their own grandchild. The force feature reminds people they have not yet successfully added their own image and replaced the template. This helps customers to avoid those errors. I have no idea whether this is the intended purpose, but I think it's a nice result.
I also do Postcrossing!
