Preferred Collection

Anyone have a clue what a preferred collection is? Seems as though all of mt products have this ! showing this note: This is not the preferred collection for this product. To update it, select "Make Preferred Collection" from the product's hover menu.  I don't understand what they want me to do..  YIKES!!  SO many things  to update for zazzle so few hours

Scroll down the page on this link and you'll find an explanation of 'Preferred Collections'.

@Baylee

I went to the page you linked to and either missed their explanation of Preferred Collections or they changed the info on the page. However, without seeing it, I've assumed all along that a preferred collection can be chosen only when a product is in two or more collections. Is this true?

I can't even find the "product's hover menu" to make it the preferred collection!

I can't seem to get screenshots. I hope my words will accurately help.

First, click on the product with the orange ( ! ). Then, cursor over a product and 3 dots appear in the upper right corner. Click on them and the options show up.

Edit: The above was my Chrome laptop. The iPad is similar except the 3 dots appear when I tap the product in that step.

I was wondering how to do this.  Turns out since I have the Pinterest icon on my internet browser, all the images I see have a magnifying glass in the top right corner.  I had to temporarily shut it off so I could actually see the 3-dot hover menu.  Thanks for posting this info!

@SJoy , how to make the P icon disappear 'temporarily'?

@1234Shine I just right clicked on the icon in my browser and clicked on "This can read and change site data".  And then I clicked on "When you click the extension".  That way I can still use it when needed without a "P" and Magnifying glass in the corner of every image.

Oh my God! Thank you "Judi_WithAnI" and "SJoy" for your comments. I also had the Pinterest extension on and had no idea that once you hover a product image there were some menu dots behind the Pinterest scope/magnifying glass!

I just sent a feedback form to Zazzle letting them know about it. Probably it would be best if the menu hover dots were on the product's bottom corners which are unobstructed by our Pinterest extensions, as I'm sure a considerable amount of designers have their Pinterest extensions as well.

Anyway, thanks again. I thought I was getting crazy not understanding this hovering over the image thing to select the Preferred collection 🙂

Those 3 dots only have options to go to the product page, see analytics, or delete the item from the collection.

Thank you, Judi! Now why couldn't the original instructions say that instead of "in the product's hover menu"?

This is so confusing! In a wedding collection the invitation is in the wedding "slot" but it's not the preferred collection? And the Save the Date card is thrown into the bonus area. How do I get into the slot for the save the date?

When you "edit details" for a product in the "product info" section under Marketplace Department you will find the path to your save the date card.  It should be wedding>invitations and stationery>save the date.  It it isn't you can change it to the proper path and it will pop into the right spot on the collection.

It's already in the correct marketplace.

I'm finding that in some collections it's asking for a preferred collection -- but it's only in that collection. That was true in this collection https://www.zazzle.com/collections/119180912749231150

I created an entire collection to be a event suite, adding tons of new products, took me days to create + all the cover photos. It looked fine in the edit mode. Then customers started sending emails asking if there was also "such and such a product with this design". So clearly they could not find the collection. I reverted it back to "similar style". Now, a few weeks later, I checked and reverted to event suite. Got warnings on every single slot saying that it was not the preferred collection! Even wedding invitations are apparently not right for an event suite. I don't know what is going on, but sales have completely disappeared for products in this collection (previously best selling). I am wondering when the promised advantages and extra promotions of collections will finally show up?

There is a glitch with the products in the suite not staying on "Preferred collections." I thought it was fixed, because mine finally "stuck," but maybe it's still going on. There are several posts about it, and Zazzle said they were working on fixing it.
