Raising Royalties Question

I heard somewhere that if we raise royalties over 14.9%, Zazzle stops advertising our products. Is that true? I want to raise my default royalty but I don't want to lose those 3rd party sales. Anyone know?

I don't know if it's true or not. I do know that when my royalty was at 14.9%, my third-party sales were from associates, not Zazzle. Sure, some of the sales came through Zazzle where they picked it up via a customer having a Zazzle cookie sticking to a shoe like bubblegum, but they never advertised any of my products. I raised my royalty to 20% without a dip in sales and without any associates dropping me.

Try it. If you see no difference or you make a little more money, then you're good to go. However, summertime might not be the best time to try it since sales are currently in the doldrums as they always are in the summer. You wouldn't want to confuse this with the change you make in royalty.

@EsZazzle still will get their royalty as 3rd party no matter what royalty rate you have. If they like a product and want to use it in their promotions they may ask you to lower your royalty rate for that product.

Have you ever experienced an affiliate make such a request? Maybe if a royalty is excessive, which is something I saw just once, though I think the person was confused and had in some unknown way managed to get their products listed up in the thousands of dollars.

Personally Barbara no affiliate (other than Z) has contacted me about changing my royalty rate.

I suppose if someone has created a fabulous design and then placed a Picasso-worthy royalty on it, an affiliate might suggest lowering the royalty, though they'd probably be more likely to just skip the product altogether.
