Using glyphs and swashes for script fonts in text

I really want to be able to add a swash to the beginning and ending of a word while creating text.  I have seen that other designers have these on their design and I see the swashes in the 'symbols' category in the list of Fonts, but I cannot figure out how to use them.  Help?

I've chatted with a Zazzle customer service person and that person's recommendation was to ask here.

@playartwithkim  I don’t know about the symbols category (never checked that out), I my self just upload them as png files with clear background - works for me. They will appear in the template as picture though which I personally prefer so folks can delete them if they like. You could also upload them as pdf files but than you can not turn them into template items and the customer can not delete them if they wanted to.

Here is a list of some of the extra characters for some of the fonts provided by @WHS_Designs . Just follow the instructions in the collection description on how to use them.  Hope this helps.
