OK, I just got access to the feature and I wanted to share that I found the way the prices are displayed to be VERY confusing. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to find the price for the download. The price is displayed at the top... but ONLY the price for the selection that the user has chosen (print/download/both) - in order to find the selection area you have to look below the add to cart and edit this design button, so the user has to move their eyes down the screen to select, then go back up to the top see the results of their selection.

And now the personalize this template link is separated from the edit this design button by the format selection choices so I think it's going to be even harder for customers to find it. (screenshot below for folks who can't see it yet.)

IMHO the layout should be simpler and look more like this:

Printed Invitation: $1.44 per card - with the quantity button next to this choice
Instant Download: $5.98
Big Button for Personalize this Template
Smaller link or button to get to the design tool.
Then big Add to Cart Button

I had access to DD viewable from the customer side around a hour ago and it has since disappeared and I hope to see it again soon. I was very impressed with how the products were presented. I did briefly look at the purchasing options but did not really get much time to view everything.  I was however amazed by the product presentation and would need to view more invitations to get a better idea. I looked at some posters and thought they were presented well too.

I have someone in chat asking me about a digital download for this invite https://www.zazzle.com/wild_one_dinosaur_triceratops_boys_1st_birthday_invitation-256897424278530401

She says she can see that it is marked as being available for digital download - which it is - but sees nowhere where she can do that?

Look at my screenshots (a few posts down in this thread). You have to scroll down below the personalize and add to the cart section in order to choose the option to buy the download... at least on a PC - no clue what it looks like on a phone.

ETA: I just looked at it on my phone and for some reason I don't have access to downloads on my phone (but I do on PC... hmm...) Well anyhow, it looks like the customer has to scroll way down below the personalize section in order to find the option to choose a download rather than a printed product.

Thanks so much Cat, you are always so helpful!

I have checked on 3 different browsers - Brave, Chrome, and Vivaldi.... the only one I can see the digital download option on currently is on Vivaldi. But since she said she could see it was available for digital download, I would think she could see where to download it too. I attached a "print screen" of it from my computer and she wrote back that she still can't see anywhere to download it!

Gah! I'd probably send her to customer service at this point. At least that way they'll be alerted to the fact that customers are having trouble navigating the system.

She said she could see it on the Safari browser on her mobile but not desktop. Maybe a couple bugs to work out, or it hasn't rolled out to be visible/working across all browsers yet.... just adding this here in case anyone else runs into this situation....

I can see the DD via my PC again on another browser, Firefox.

I can also see it on my phone. It gives the options to DD easily in view. Needs to scroll down for the options but I can see clearly here.

Make sure the customer is adding it to the basket if she hasn't already. It seems to work fine here.

Sounds like maybe your customer is just confused? She wouldn't have an option anywhere to download it unless she actually went through checkout and purchased it.

Everyone can see the Downloadable badge on the search results page, but not everyone can see the download options on the product page. The team is aware of this situation. We hope that our testing will open up so that we can include more users (and this will become less of an issue). If you have someone that's looking for the download option you're welcome to share that we're testing this new feature, but it isn't quite available to everyone just yet.

It's possible that some users will see this new feature on their phone but not on their desktop browser (or vice versa). Being included in the test isn't tied to your Zazzle login or anything like that.

Thank you. She did figure it out - used her mobile/Safari browser. And she bought it, yay!

I think you may have been misinformed on that? I can see the badges in one browser (Opera at this moment) but not any others and when I can see the badges I can always also see the option on the product page. So I don't think everyone can see the badges, it seems random and changes with time and browser selected.

Given that Zazzle has suggested and set up as default a royalty percentage well over 15%, please consider removing the royalty deduction we are normally charged when we assign a product royalty greater than 15%. We are shouldn't be losing money automatically when the system is set up that way intentionally

I can now see the digital download options in store view and public view. The pricing does not seem right to me. The two screenshots show selecting one digital download card (price $5.98), but when added to cart the price drops down to $0.48 cents.
Is this a bug in the system or am I missing something here?

Hi @JulieV,

Thanks for your post. This is entirely expected behavior when purchasing your own design as a download. The fee is greatly reduced in these cases.

I had this price in my backend royalty calculator, I made no attempt to purchase or add it to my basket.

Hi LeahG,
As per my reply to Padraig, it would be good if this was mentioned in the FAQs to avoid confusion on pricing shown for creators versus regular customers. 🙂

sorry please ignore this reply, I thought it related to the royalty being 0.48 with the 50% sale applied ( I got my threads mixed up).

JulieV

Thanks for clearing this up for me. It would be great if this could be mentioned somewhere in the FAQs. 🙂

Hi @JulieV,

Thanks for your feedback regarding the FAQs. I'll pass it along to our team to see if there is anything we can do.

I just found out my products are showing the option of being purchased as a digital download.

Is this happening to everyone already? Is the program completely extended to all sellers? Just curious.

Cat
Honored Contributor III

As far as I know all sellers are included, it's the buyers that are a select limited group, so only some users can see the option.

How on earth can they select the buyers?

I have no earthly idea - Scott said it was open to some "users" and not others - but that it wasn't tied to your login - whatever that means. If I'm on my pc I can see all the products available for download (including yours, BTW) but if I'm on my phone I can't see the option to download anything.

No, it hasn't been extended to everyone. It seems they're still picking and choosing and changing. My own downloadables are still not downloadable.

Yes they are. I just checked this one All the Flowers for Mother, Wife, or Valentine Card | Zazzle and I have the option to buy a download.

Interesting. I don't see the option, not even when I'm signed out. I feel so very unspecial. LOL

I see it sometimes and sometimes I don't depending on what device I am on because of different browsers.  Right now I can not see them.

I can see it right now too. Sometimes I can see the instant downloads and sometimes I can't. It's random, you never know when it will pop up. I haven't seen it for days until now. I'm using Waterfox.

Barbara
Esteemed Contributor

I had to look up Waterfox because I'd never heard of it before.

Me neither, my son downloaded it for me, when I got my new computer. To me, they're all the same. He said it has better privacy protection, it's like Firefox and it seems to fit my screen better, not as big as Chrome and it's alittle faster than Chrome and Firefox.

I have had a few products sell, but I haven't come across how it looks to buy. That being said, I don't think coupons should apply to digital downloads. They are gettin a STEAL buying an invitation for $5-6 and it just doesn't seem fair. Zazzle is a POD site. They come here to buy PRINT on demand products. They are getting around that with these digital downloads and I just dont think they should also be getting 50% off an already great deal. Not even 20 or 30%. just pay the full little $11-13 for the invitation. I really think that needs to be implemented or I may restrict. It just doesn't seem fair at all.

Reluctant to enable this globally I selected just a few invitations to see how this all develops. If I decide to add more products or add products from a specific store am I still able to do this or is the window of opportunity for this closed?

Barbara
Esteemed Contributor

You can enable/disable products at any time, and when creating new products and posting them for sale, you've the same opportunity.

Please may I know what are all eligible digital products on Zazzle?

Thanks!

My question is, I am not taking part.  What do I tell a customer if they want to buy something ID.  Can I just do it for customers IF they ask then shut it off again

You could do that, just recreate and set to 'direct only'

Shakenbake

Whats the percentage breakdown on how much Zazzle keeps off digital downloads? Because it's still not adding up. The percentage the designer (or creator whatever) gets vs what the customer pays pay even before coupons, isn't correct. How big of a carve out from our royalties does Zazzle receive, and why exactly? If you set something to 95% and it's $17 for the customer, why does the creator only take about $12 before coupons?? That's not 95%. What am I missing?

I had a few cancellations on Instant download invitations. I actually thought that there is no refund on Instant download files, since they can still use it. Any thoughts?
