QRcodeMonkey

You can use this free site to customize and generate a QR code graphic that points to your store or to a Collection or anywhere you want. You can then upload that QR code image to Zazzle (or whereever you're printing your stickers).

Spending some time investigating what can be done with a QR code, I concluded the best use is probably for businesses creating Vcards where much more than a simple URL is in the code. Something as simple as a contact name and phone number is common. If I were to add QR codes to my business card designs, I'd love if Zazzle had a generator to do more than a URL so a customer didn't have to go outside Zazzle to do it.

Hello All Zazzlers!
Would some one please kindly give a quick QR Code rundown and help to explain the what's why's and how to's of this new feature.  For example, what is a QR Code, How to actually use this feature, and why this is important, or helpful, and to WHO (what customer audience) would benefit mostly from it and to give some good product examples of where to utilize this option, ex. post cards, invitations. ect...
Thank You! I hope this post will be beneficial to the NEWBIES and to the more ADVANCED.

A QR (Quick Response) code is like a bar code that manufacturers have been using for a long time to encapsulate information about a product and that can be scanned to extract that information. The QR code is different in that it can contain a whole lot more information and that can be scanned by smart devices containing an app that can read the code, the most common device being a cell phone. You can often see them being used on television ads so people can be quickly sent to a web site for more information. Here on Zazzle, that's all the QR code can do (as far as I can tell) because the customer can customize it only with his or her URL. The most likely spot for such a code would be on a business card. Others have mentioned putting them on invitations to send recipients to a web site where all the rest of the information for an event is displayed.

I'm personally waiting to see how popular it might be for Zazzle's customers, mainly because I've yet to see a single person hold a phone up to a QR code.

Wow...
What a great response Barbara. 😇
Thank you kindly for taking the time to reply!
Great Info😎
Looking forward to seeing what others create as well!

Hello Scott.
I have a very BASIC question and a simple comment for you. Thank you for your time.  It would be very helpful if Z would be so kind enough to provide walk through tutorials on the "new attributes" given to the design tool.  Just a SIMPLE screen walk through presentation would be so helpful & beneficial to the Z designer community.

So, the question is the basic steps of HOW to PROPERLY utilize the new QR Code Asset in the design tool? .

For Example, as I click the QR Code option, it gives me a pop up box stating that I need to "add a url", but in the small print to the left under the option to add it states, "We'll create a QR code to add to your design. People can scan the QR code to visit the URL.", So, I'm a bit confused about the process.  #2 Where do I obtain and which url is it asking me for, , finally # 3, How is this MORE beneficial than the previous method of simply creating a template for the code?

I hope somebody can TRULY help me out here!
I'm ALWAYS GRATEFUL for the assistance I receive in this forum family!
It has LITERALLY been a LIFE SAVER!!!
Thank You ALL!!!

Hi All and Scott -

I like the QR code feature. Scanning is much easier than typing or searching for a website or social media account.

But I either need additional education or have some suggestions

Use case for context: business cards.

My understanding of adding this to a template:Elements>QR code. This forces the designer to Enter URL.What URL should I enter? This field is contact info. It is analogous to entering 555-555-5555 as sample text in a phone number field.

If I add an URL, e.g., www.zazzle.com  to display an example QR code,  there is no "force replace" on the Personalize options for the customer. In addition, the customer can delete the associated sample URL, but as far as I can see the QR code remains. My concern is that if the customer forgets to replace the URL, they will have business cards with a QR going to an irrelevant (for them) place?

Am I misunderstanding the behavior or using it incorrectly?

-----------------

I think this is a great feature that adds convenience for customers, but would like to suggest a few things:

1 - Change the field label from "Enter URL" to "Enter Destination URL" or "Enter Target URL"

Some text that conveys that you do not have to go to a QR code generator website to get an URL to enter here. You just need to enter the URL that you want people to reach by scanning the QR code.

Zazzle is generating the QR code here (easy for everyone but maybe not that obvios)

2 - Have a fake image like SAMPLE associated with the QR code element when it is initially added to a design. or "SAMPLE-ENTER YOUR URL to get a QR CODE" (I know that's a lot of words for a little rectangle - more to illustrate the point),

When adding the element, do not force the designer to enter an URL. Let the designer treat it as a graphic placeholder.

2 - Add the Force Replace option for this element AND Default any QR code elements where no URL has been entered by the creator to "Force Replace" for the customer

3 - On the customer side, expand the instructions/help so that they know to enter the destination/target URL that they want people to reach. If they do not add an URL, delete the graphic QR code placeholder.

Thank you
