Foil Invitation Samples

I ordered a few samples of my foil invitations, I'm not thrilled with them and if they were my invitation of choice for a wedding I likely would return them, the card seems very thin for a premium product. On my darker invites the printing is lovely and crisp. The foil on all the invites is lovely. On my lighter invites it seems to have been washed out and doesn't have the tonal variation that should be there, like the contrast hasn't been set right. All in all they are ok but ultimately at their price point I did expect a more luxurious product and it just seems a bit EH.

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing your findings. Do you have any other Zazzle samples that you could compare the thickness to? Just wondering how the paper compares to the standard matte invitations.

@Cat I have samples of the new foil cards (I love them!) and the standard matte invites and they feel very similar in thickness to me. Not sure whether they are exactly the same weight, but there doesn’t seem to be too much in it.

I'm glad to hear you love them, I haven't had any returns on them which means other people must at least be happy with them but to me they feel cheap and I wouldn't like them as my stationary, in saying that I haven't ordered the standard invites either its possible I also wouldn't be happy with those.

Good to know you haven’t had any returns on them, happy to say neither have I (so far). As I wasn’t expecting the card to be any thicker than the matte samples I had already, I wasn’t disappointed at all by the card thickness, I was simply wowed by the foil and I hope the majority of customers will be impressed too.

@Sandra-They are a TEENY TINY bit thinner than the matte, but still much thicker than regular greeting cards, or the semi-gloss regular invites. I love the satin feel, and the colors on all my samples came out very vibrant and true to life.

No I haven't ordered the normal invites either this was the first samples of my designs that I've ordered and it was mostly because I really didn't like the mock ups and wanted to see the foil colour in person.

Re price - You can lower your royalty so they're not 'expensive'? Mine are $0.25 less than yours as an example.

Re your lighter colored cards -  what I do (mainly re silver and rose gold foil options)  is duplicate the text I want foil on the underlayer (front) and make it 'white'. This gives me a more vibrant 'foil' re the preview, so I hope that reflects in the actual product. If you try the sample shown and 'hide' the text elements re 'front' face you will not a very visible difference re the preview. Give it a try and you may see some improvement.

Re the thickness - they don't detail the paper weight ( I can't see it anywhere) which is unusual and hopefully Zazzle can remedy that? @Scott

We're working on adding the paper weight to the product page.

@CreativeLeahG Wow! That's a great way to trick the preview. It looks SOOO much better! I'm hoping everything aligns correctly when printed otherwise you might get a weird shadow effect. Might have to try ordering some samples. If anyone tries this and orders some samples, please let us know how they turn out!

That is a great tip Leah, Thank you for sharing it. 🙂 ( I am referring to the white underlayer, not the lowered royalty)

Wow, I'm sorry you feel that way. I thought they were WONDERFUL quality! They are slightly thinner than the matte regular cards, but thicker than the semi-gloss, and they have a beautiful luxurious satin feel to them- not glossy, but not matte. The colors on mine came out perfect, and the foil printing is gorgeous. (The only thing I had trouble with was the outer border on one design, which I've since remedied.) I do wish Zazzle listed the actual paper weight for the foil invites, as I had an inquiry from a customer, and had to refer them to customer service. But I gave her my personal impressions judging from my samples.
