Listing tools (media manager, downloads etc) disabled as soon as personalized/edited

There is a pretty annoying issue with the listing tools containing media manager, downloads etc (not a new issue): as soon as you open the personalize mask and try to edit any field, or as soon as you edit the design and exit again, the toolbar and all tools are disabled. This makes it extremely difficult and time-consuming to manage mockups and get downloads etc, considering that you may want to edit some default content before getting downloads to use in your mockups. The only trick I see is to publish a private working copy and use that one to get the material you need, every time you want to change some content.

Can this please be changed so the tools stay active while we adjust/edit/personalize our own products? Thank you!
P.S. Don't think it's a bug, more working as intentional.

I agree. It would be nice to be able to feature a product that has been personalized in the mockup.

I discovered this when I was simply checking before editing details. Is this new? I've never encountered it before.

No, it is this way for quite some time now. I just didn't mention it cuz I wasn't that active recently and I used the old way to get my mockup sources. Just found out that the design download gives the most crispy results compared to the preview downloads (sharper and no greyish overlays but clean design as shown in the designer) and wanted to use that one instead. Also switched to Photoshop and got myself a new PC and started to do things more organized now.
