Question about categories and collections

Hello,

I have a few beginner questions about categories and collections. So far we have started to make some collections and we noticed that it is possible to assign a product to several collections, and to put them in front of the home page of the store, so the collections seem practical and interesting to use.

Today I wanted to create categories, which I wanted to display at the top of the store's home page so that visitors could more easily find items that might interest them, but I'm running into the following problems :

- I can see the categories but they do not appear on the shop's homepage (https://www.zazzle.com/store/the_creative_touch)
- I have assigned all our items to the corresponding categories, but none of them appear. When I go to a category it is empty.
- I realised afterwards that we can only assign a product to one category, which makes it much less convenient than collections.

So I ask myself the following questions:

- What are these categories for? Is it good to create them or is it better to make only collections?
- How to make the categories appear on the home page of the store?
- Is there a delay for the products that we have assigned to each category to appear?
- If i delete the categories that will not delete all items affected to those categories ?

Yes, patience, waiting. Seems like we as shops need to have extreme patience with all the numerous issues happening  in the past few months, or possibly practice meditation, or just zone out.

More logical and consistent to have and use categories, esp when you are creating products.

While logged in go to settings>advanced settings>customize store>hidden sections column—select categories and add to>Visible sections which is the right side column

You asked: Is there a delay for the products that we have assigned to each category to appear?
It has been reported in the forums that there is a delay in indexing, including collections and categories, adding products etc.

I just checked and if i don't mistake it was already set as visible
