On the product page there is an "add to collection" link in the bar above the product. In your backend you add via the actions function displayed below the image of your product.
For other peoples products, things have changed. I believe you have to click the heart displayed on the image. I believe this has to be done from the product page itself. As I don't place other peoples products in collections, I am unsure of the exact process... if that is what you are looking for, maybe someone else cn chime in.
