Force customers to replace with their own content issue

All of my products have the "Force customers to replace with their own content" enabled. I was doing a test on adding some products to my shopping cart and even though the "One last thing before you're done! Please review the following in red:" showed up with red squares around the images, I could add the products to my cart without replacing any images. I didn't order anything, but it looks as though the customer can order without replacing any images or text.

Hey @plumb4me,

If you have the "force replace" option selected on a product, you, as the creator, will still be able to add the product to your cart without replacing the images. However, a customer will have to replace the image and will not be given the add to cart option until they do.

I haven't been able to verify it myself, but recently a client reprimanded me for not being able to use a photo and being forced to substitute. He was very upset because he had to buy a photo from an image bank. Obviously I explained to him that it was a photo used to illustrate the product aesthetically and that he should put his own photo. He didn't reply back, but this makes me think that somehow he won't be able to finish the purchase.

Hey @plumb4me,

If you have the "force replace" option selected on a product, you, as the creator, will still be able to add the product to your cart without replacing the images. However, a customer will have to replace the image and will not be given the add to cart option until they do.

If you're doing testing as a customer I would log out of your Z account and/or use an incognito/private browser.
