Changing clock style nearly wipes out number sold?

I have a clock I made in 2015 that has sold and sold and sold some more and to the point that it is (was) in the multiple hundreds. I somewhat recently changed it to the newer design that has a frame, and its sales number is now at 27. Has anyone else experienced this with clocks?

I can't say that I've ever had a bestselling clock, and after reading your post, I'm both envious and afraid to try.

I remember that in the good old days, editing (and saving) the product in the backend would cause the stats to roll over to the next product (either to the left or right, and independent of the parameter it is sorted by, e.g. Title (A-Z), newest to oldest, popularity, etc). This rollover would be a temporary one, although I can't remember how long it took for the stats to go back to their proper product.

Is it possible that your sales figures have rolled over to the next clock?

There is no next clock. It's the exact same clock, except I chose the framed version for it. Would the same thing happen to, say, a sticker, one we decided to change from the round to the square, would all sales for the round sticker get wiped out, or is it only the clocks. No more style changes for me when it comes to clocks because, though a customer can choose the framed or unframed, it appears they're considered to not be the same product.

I should clarify that I'm only editing and saving the title, tags, and product description in the backend (not modifying the design itself). The stats--including the sales--would end up rolling over to the product to the immediate right (eventually the stats would roll back to the correct product).

I did change some of my clocks from the acrylic defaults over to the new framed ones a while ago, and I've checked the sales stats of few of them -- all are correct. The fact that the acrylic and framed clocks all come from the same maker, Acrylic Factory, makes your dropping sales stats even more of a mystery.

Oh no, like you Colorwash the same thing has happened with me as well ! I have been changing my clocks to frames as well ,also editing clocks from yonks ago because the image wasn't large enough! At the least 20 or more I have altered say "Sold Never " some have also sold in the hundreds. Printed stats on orders by date still show up 'cause  I have scrolled through 18 pages of my clocks! From now I will only promote those without frames ! However the number Sold does not appear to the public only the number of people who have viewed them!

A bit of a hit to our motivation though as sales history of a product important re advertising and creating!

The single problem as I see it is in the realm of the "Popular" listing. Our top selling products fall into a chasm.

It's too late for all the clocks I changed, but from now on, if I want to change one of them, I won't. Instead, I'll make a duplicate.

The world has magically righted itself. The clock I described in my initial post has regained all its 363 orders. Did someone at Zazzle notice the problem with switching styles or was there an indexer that woke up from its months' long nap? Whatever it is that happened, things are correct again.

@orientcourt: Check your clocks to see if their orders have been straightened out.

I am really glad you got your stats fixed!  That was surely concerning, especially since sometimes styles are discontinued and we must change to a new one.

My "honorary" degree signifies only that the forum software keeps count on how many times a person shows up here. If I showed up more often in my store, maybe I'd sell more stuff.
