Is this just for certain types of cross sell collections? I was able to do it for birthday party, bridal shower and baby shower collections. But I couldn't do it for my Mardis Gras party collection since I had to call it Holiday Seasonal and I couldn't do it for my backyard BBQ party collection which I had to call Home/Living despite both those collections being all matching with a cover photo including the invitation and matching party supplies.

@KeegansCreation also found it doesn't work for Father's Day so it seems only certain types have been switch on for testing I suppose (really wish they would sort of the 4th July cross sell - not been able to finish those off as they don't have a event set yet)

Hi Creator - We made an update to our post about specific cross-sell collections part of the test:

The following Cross- Sell Event Type Collections will be included in this test:

  • Wedding
  • Baby Shower
  • Bachelor Party
  • Bachelorette Party
  • Back to School
  • Birth Announcement
  • Birthday - Adult
  • Birthday - Kid’s
  • Birthday - Quinceañera
  • Bridal Shower
  • Gender Reveal
  • Holiday - Halloween
  • Holiday - Hanukkah
  • Holiday - New Year’s
  • Holiday - Thanksgiving Day

We hope this helps clarify the questions on this thread for all!

Why did you remove collections from our stores?  Shouldn't Sellers have had the choice to make a collection in their store a Cross-Sell or just leave their collection as is?  I also have some that were labeled "needs to migrate" and had no clue what that meant.  I also tried to make a Collection and when I did, the first 20 products that were recently in my store were automatically added to that collection even though they were not that topic.  The collection was unable to have a cover photo.  And, in the store when you clicked it, it showed no products.  So I removed it.  And, what is a banner for a collection?  And, adding a product to a Collection from the product itself did not work.  I literally scanned through the first 45 pages of products to add some to the collection, which later on never showed up in my store but only as a grey square.

Are you removing your requirement to have at least 10 collections in a store for Zazzle rank?  I hope so, because you removed 6 of mine thus I do not have 10 collections anymore.  And, it's not my fault I no longer have the required 10.

I don't want to participate, because I find it clutters up the search results and is very confusing. This is why we were told to only have one product showing in the product cover photos when they were first introduced! I think it's enough to have that little "View Collection" tab at the top of the image. And besides, after we went through all the trouble of adding cover photos to the PRODUCTS, now those cover photos are obsolete and useless?

Yes, You are right. I also agree with you.

Agreed. I think it is important to simplify things and make it very clear for customers to understand and so far, this feature does not seem to do that, but actually seems to add steps and create confusion.

When I'm browsing the marketplace these days, and I see a whole collection of products shown as the cover image for a single product, it's confusing because I have to then guess which product in that photo the listing is actually for. I would imagine that it would be frustrating for customers who are just trying to find what they are looking for efficiently.

I'm not too keen on utilizing this feature, as of yet, but that may change. The rest of the upgrades to the collections have been great, and I've noticed increased visibility on complimentary products within collections as a result.

I guess I don't get it.

First, I don't know how to search for collections in the MP.

When I select enable marketplace I don't see search pages

I also don't see a place to select the three products I featured in the cover photo.

Here is the collection I was trying to use.

@ElizabethR this only seems to work if your collection is set as a wedding and cross-sell type and your collections are Leap Year proposal and Easter - that could be why it doesn't work?

edited to add just read @KeegansCreation comment and can confirm baby shower/gender reveal types work

to get to your cover images to select (if your collection is enabled for this feature( you need to press the Zazzle Marketplace tab in edit the collection

Sara_H_0-1705054262393.png

then scroll down and select the products that are in your collection cover image

Sara_H_1-1705054396683.png

then press save

Only select the ones that are in the collection cover image and no more

Hope that helps

I am just not getting the search page section you are showing. Thank you. I guess it's just weddings. I just looked at the announcement again and I now see the list of included categories. It was probably there but I must have skipped over it.

Back to writing.

@ElizabethR it only appears if the type of collection is cross sell and the event is wedding/baby shower/birthday

and you find it (if your collection is the type that it is enabled on) by going into your collection (edit collection) and press the Zazzle Marketplace green button (top right) -

if it's the right sort of collection - this is where you would see all your promos to select

Not all collections will have this option - as zazzle hasn't switched it on for all of them at this time

Thank you, I do have Halloween and Thanksgiving collections,, but the selling season is eight months away. So, I'm going back to my writing.

I agree with you. Zazzle seems to be favoring Sellers that do wedding and showers.  Or baby stuff.  The rest of us suddenly don't fit in.  That's not fair.

Seems like a convoluted way for customers to search for items. I don’t think that this is a necessary change. If a customer wants to see an invitation then they must click through other items to view it up close. The invitation is not the first thing that they see (based on watching the video). The previous way to “view more in this collection” works fine.

Thanks for the explanation!

Luckily I went through this process when creating the collections last year. Hopefully this will result in more views for my collections, since a lot show 0 views in the past 30 days.

I spent a lot of time creating collections and adding keywords to them. Nothing sold.

I think the SEO is not intended to work with the collections or something is broken.

Until I figure it out I'm not spending more time creating collections.

I agree.  My greatest asset used to be Pinterest.  But, they changed so that if you want to put Zazzle products on a Pinterest board, you have to set it up as a business account and pay for it.  I think this entire issue was just something to keep the software engineers busy with something to do.  Collections really do not matter and visually they clutter up the page.

My Pinterest business account was/is free.

Mine was too. BUT...it wouldn't come up on search engines anymore unless you set it up as a business account and they charged for that.  So no one saw my products anymore.

Okay, I had a Halloween party ware collection from last year.  I had to refine the MP department but now I have a collection that complies with the test requirements. The only problem is that I featured five sets of plates, napkins, and cups for a total of 15 products. It will only let me select 11.

@ElizabethR

I would make the collection cover less busy and a close up of the products so that when a customer is scrolling through the marketplace they can see the design a bit more clearly and maybe feature just one design on three products or maybe just the invitations? Or maybe break out the collection per design style? (ie just jack o lanterns - just ghosts etc)

You don't have to show everything in your collection cover just a teaser to entice the customer to click through for more

I'm finding it difficult to see the products on the brick wall

Then with less products in your collection cover - you'll only have to click the products for the test (3 is less than 11)

I would like to see all the collections which creators have made for POSTCARDS and for SKATEBOARDS but no matter what search term I enter in the box, the same 259,559 collections show up.

I also do Postcrossing!

I made a thread about this in the technical issues forum. There's a glitch, and search isn't working for collections.

Hi — I’ve just arranged some (hopefully) correctly — three 1st birthday and a Halloween.  How do you find them?

Windy

When searching for halloween, use the filters. Choose ADD FILTER/SPECIAL PICKS/COLLECTIONS.

(I do not think customers will ever know that!)

I asked about the trademark on Over the Hill Gang because I was creating this collection. I hope that I didn't waste my time.

I'm having trouble getting my products to show up in the RealView images. Initially, I had some of my products categorized incorrectly, particularly RSVP and enclosure cards. Now they're set properly (in some collections), but it's been a few days and I can't get them to update for RealView. So my vertical enclosure card is populating with a vertical RSVP card and my horizontal enclosure card isn't populating at all–even though I have several in the correct size. When I fixed my Save the Dates and moved them out of the invitation category they did update properly though.

A few other things:

  • I would love to see more RealView mock-up options–mockup styles, product option sets, and product orientations.
  • Based on the how-to video I just watched, I think it would be ideal for the marketplace RealView options to be selected manually vs being based on the first few images in the collection. What happens if more than one RealView is enabled? Or uploaded? This is a bit confusing overall.
  • I'm first noticing the follow-up email feature. That's great!!! I am confused by the custom message though. Does it replace the Zazzle message? Or add to it? I like the text you have. I do think though that it might be more effective to move the creator photo/follow block down below the collection of products. Or to at least make the creator block much smaller so that the products are more visible. And for weddings, especially when somebody purchases a save the date or invitation, it would be awesome to send a similar email or email flow around the time(s) a customer would be in the buying journey headspace for favors, gifts, napkins, thank you cards, etc.

Thanks!

I have real views enabled but nothing is showing up on the marketplace product page (view collection)

I have a video set for the main media image for my collection and would like to keep the video as the main image however it pulls a random slide from my video into marketplace selection area. I would love to be able to change this to my main collection image here.

When will you be promoting (to the same degree) fine art products that are not wedding products?  I do realize Zazzle makes most of their money via weddings, but it would be nice to be the "place to go" for artists or photographers who want to compete with Fine Art America.  When will you be creating "Cross-sell" for these products?

Brownielocks
Contributor II

I don't get the justification for having a picture of a graphic on several items for the cover of a collection.  When someone looks at a product, Zazzle also shows that image on several other products  on that page that a buyer can click on.  Or they have the option of buying this image also on.....   Unless you are a store that sells wedding stuff, party stuff or baby stuff for the rest of us where a buyer might want the same image on a invitations, thank-you cards, napkins, paper plates, cups, etc.  this cross-sell format doesn't fit what many other stores that don't do that sell.

Even for wedding collections, it's confusing to the buyer when they search for a wedding invitation, and see several different products instead of the invitation. Or they click on what they think is the invitation, but it's really the collection cover, and brings them to a different invitation than what they thought they were viewing!

Connie, Excellent point!

@Heather I'm not entirely sure what kinds of questions you are wanting us to ask you, but I am looking forward to reading all of your answers. In particular, what does the following text mean? This is from the Zazzle Marketplace Enabled button area

Search Pages

Zazzle will show your primary collection cover image for highly relevant product searches.

Does this mean I have no control over customers seeing a page which includes a bunch of my products and most of them show the collection cover photo? I would love to not have that happen, and would like for you to tell me how to avoid that unfortunate result . Many of us would like to have control over whether the collection cover is shown, or the product cover photo is shown.
