Sorry to beat a dead horse here, I know this decision has been made, but this is bothering me. the-Creator.png

Maybe this could be reworded somehow? If you must refer to me as "the creator", could you at least not capitalize it? I mostly just think it looks silly and ridiculous, but I think there are some religious communities that might be offended.

Hi Cat!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I have contacted our team about this.

Best regards,

@Rebecca Thanks so much!

I still think being called the "Creator"  makes it sound to customers like we are actually the ones that create the  products themselves.  I think a more proper term would be "Graphic Designer" because that is what we are doing....designing the graphics....  Just my two cents.

@Rebecca

Cat's observation is just another consequence apparently unforeseen by Zazzle's decision-makers

I'm still with SJoy and with the others who preferred the old designation.  There was nothing wrong with "Graphic Designer", or just plain "Designer" for that matter.  For those of us that use lots of Public Domain images, "creator" is not only pompous but misleading.

Words matter.

P.S.  I would give kudos to SJoy here, but this forum's format doesn't allow for that.

i prefer graphic designer as well.  Creator implies that we also make the product and I would prefer that all questions go directly to Zazzle regarding orders.

If I could opt out of chat, I would gladly do it.

I personally prefer "Template Designer" lately, which specifically helps reinforce the idea that we aren't producing or providing direct customer service for production and shipping (since 95% of the messages I receive are asking for production times, shipping updates, and asking me to verify that they lined everything up correctly on their order 🙂

Also it helps the customer understand they are templates that they can edit themselves too.

I hadn't notice how "the Creator" looked in text like that. It made me giggle.

Since there are so many different types "creators," something like artist work better, IMO. The watercolorist here would call themselves a template designer or graphic designer/artist.

I also found being called "the Creator" uncomfortable, especially as a person of faith... I much rather be called "Designer."  ~  Thank you!

I totally agree with what Saints_Aplenty said about "creator" feeling pompous and misleading. I wish we could delete the title under our shop photo, at least, if we can't be given a choice of titles. A title really does not need to be there to explain who we are. The name we are using would be adequate. (I actually got a message from a customer starting with "Hi creator.") I realize finding one word to describe us creatives is difficult , given that we are not all artists. I liked "designer" and it's inclusive of a variety of skills. However, being labeled as a "creator" when I am not makes me feel like I am no longer a good fit with Zazzle, less welcome than someone who is a true artist -- rather demotivating, to be honest. I'm assuming my choices are to close shop or get over it, but I'd love to see another solution present itself.

There are people who sell here who actually make things. There are also major brands. I think they were trying to include every entity in one umbrella designation. I have a feeling this will be more understandable as they roll out new features that we don't know about. Me just guessing. Titles that people use are usually capitalized, so I am not sure it will change.
